Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton announced their engagement just over a week ago, but they've already started thinking about their big day. Their wedding, says an insider close to the pair, will be a subtle affair. According to the People source, "neither wants a big wedding." The ceremony will reportedly be attended by their closest loved ones only—and the nuptials will hopefully happen as soon as possible.

As the singers iron out the details for their upcoming nuptials, more information about Blake's proposal has come to light: The country music singer asked Gwen's sons' for their mom's hand before getting down on one knee. "Blake told her boys that he wanted to propose and asked their permission," the source said. "Her family very much approves of him. He's an amazing partner and a great extra dad to the boys. Gwen is ecstatic. The proposal was a surprise."

The country music star also kept with another pre-proposal tradition: He asked Gwen's father for permission to marry her, too, Us Weekly previously reported. "Blake had the ring custom-designed, and asked permission from her dad before asking Gwen," an insider revealed to the outlet. "It meant so much to Gwen that Blake was so traditional about it."

Blake officially asked his future bride to be his wife on October 17, in Oklahoma, which is where they have been quarantining with Gwen's three sons during the COVID-19 pandemic, People noted. After taking some time to celebrate privately, they both took to their social media platforms to confirm their engagement. "Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020... And the rest of my life," Blake captioned the engagement photo on Instagram. "I love you. I heard a YES!" Gwen shared a post of her own, writing: "@blakeshelton yes please!"
