Gwyneth Paltrow Shares Selfie with Robert Downey Jr. After Saying She's Done with Marvel Films

Gwyneth Paltrow is retiring from Marvel films, but she’ll always have Robert Downey Jr.‘s back.

The 46-year-old actress shared a sweet selfie of herself and the Iron Man actor, 53, on Instagram Wednesday in which she wrote, “You KNOW I will be this guys pepper anytime he needs me ?? #pepperonyforever.”

The photo comes after Paltrow told Variety she was retiring from Marvel films and from her role as Pepper Potts, Tony Stark’s assistant and love interest.

“I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point,” she told the publication. “I feel very lucky that I did it because I actually got talked into it.”

Paltrow said it was her friend and Iron Man director Jon Favreau who convinced her to sign on for the 2008 film.

“It was such a wonderful experience making the first Iron Man and then to watch how important it has become to the fans,” she added.

Paltrow has also starred in Iron Man 2 and 3, as well as The Avengers, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War and in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame.

The Oscar-winning actress told Variety she made a conscious decision to step away from Hollywood after the industry shifted to focus on more blockbuster fare.

“I think the movies and the business around them have changed so much in the last 20 years,” Paltrow said, explaining the films she used to make — those with an adult audience — had stopped being made.

“I don’t think any of the movies that I’m known for would get made today,” she continued. “Would they make The Royal Tenenbaums? Would they make The Talented Mr. Ripley? Would they make Shakespeare in Love?”
