H.S. Baseball/Softball: Hazleton Area baseball gets combined no-hitter

May 1—Josh Halcisak and Gavin Perkosky combined on a four-inning no-hitter as Hazleton Area defeated Tunkhannock 16-0 Monday in Wyoming Valley Conference baseball.

Halcisak struck out two over three innings. Perkosky had one strikeout.

Brett Antolick led the hitting, going 2-for-2 with a triple and five RBI.

Halcisak and Jamie Martoccio each doubled and had two RBI. Jonas Aponick also brought home two runs.

Hanover Area 1, Wyoming Seminary 0

Caden Hummer scored the game's only run in the top of the ninth as Hanover Area edged Wyoming Seminary.

Both starting pitchers threw seven strong innings. Hanover Area's Brett Martinez struck out six and allowed five hits. Seminary's Teddy Kraus had six strikeouts and surrendered four hits.

Collin Klein threw the final two innings for Hanover Area to pick up the win.

Miguel Rivas had two hits for Hanover Area. Alex Aiello had two hits for Seminary.

Lake-Lehman 16, Wyoming Area 6

Jeremy Naugle and Chris Sholtis homered as Lake-Lehman had 10 extra-base hits in defeating Wyoming Area in five innings.

Naugle finished with four RBI. Sholtis added two doubles and a triple, falling a single shy of hitting for the cycle.

Graedon Finarelli had three doubles and two RBI. Corey Bean doubled and had three RBI. Evan Kaiser doubled and had two RBI.

Nate Novakowski had a triple and two RBI for Wyoming Area. Jacob Snyder was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Postponement

Heavy rain just before game time forced the postponement of Nanticoke Area at Holy Redeemer.

The top two teams in Division 2 will play at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at Gibby Field in Wilkes-Barre.

SOFTBALL

Tunkhannock 12, Hazleton Area 0

Kaya Hannon threw a two-hitter and Paige Marabell hit two home runs as Tunkhannock won in six innings.

Hannon finished with six strikeouts. Marabell had five RBI.

Elle McNeff and Gabby Wood had two RBI each for Tunkhannock. Wood also homered. Erin Van Ness doubled.

Makenna Balay doubled and Marissa Hoffman singled for Hazleton Area's only hits.

Postponements

Pittston Area at Dallas and Wilkes-Barre Area at Wyoming Valley West were postponed. No makeup dates have been set.
