H.S. Basketball: Hanover Area boys rout Western Wayne

Dec. 15—Hanover Area took control in the second half to defeat Western Wayne 66-33 Wednesday in a non-conference boys basketball game.

The Hawkeyes outscored the Wildcats 40-14 over the final two quarter. Elijah Noe scored five of his game-high 12 points in the third quarter as Hanover Area built its lead from seven at the break to 25 entering the fourth quarter. Sedrick Beasley had all seven of his points in the third.

Lael Hayward finished with 12 for Hanover Area. Luis McCoy added 11.

Wyoming Area 66, Lackawanna Trail 30

The Warriors built a 24-point halftime lead on the way to a victory.

Dane Schutter led Wyoming Area with 25 points. Brady Noone scored 12 and Lukas Burakiewicz netted 11.

Lorenzo Damiano scored 11 for the Lions.

Berwick 79, Danville 65

Matt Lonczynski scored 18 points as four Berwick players scored in double figures in a win over Danville.

Jace Degroat had 17 for the Dawgs. Billy Hanson had 15 and Sean Murphy added 10.

Williamsport 47, Crestwood 42

George Whaley led Williamsport with 18 points in a win over visiting Crestwood.

Brandon Burbank led Crestwood with 23 followed by Drew Sechleer with 13.

Northwest 57, Millville 15

Josh Miner paced Northwest with 16 points. Derek Pierontoni and Ryan Miner added nine each.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Northwest 55, Hanover Area 17

Morgan Hermanofski scored a game-high 21 points as Northwest defeated Hanover Area in a non-conference game.

Ashlyn Hermanofski and Charleigh Miner added 11 each for the Rangers.

Hannah Salwoski scored six for Hanover Area.

Scranton Prep 62, Wyoming Valley West 32

Maya Jenkins scored 14 points to lead four players in double figures as visiting Prep defeated Wyoming Valley West.

Anya Richet scored 12 for Valley West.

Pittston Area 64, West Scranton 31

Daniella Ranieli and Kallie Booth led a huge third quarter run as Pittston Area pulled away to defeat West Scranton.

The Patriots outscored the Invaders 19-3 in the third. Booth finished with a game-high 28 points. Ranieli had 23. Maddie Karp scored eight.

Wilkes-Barre Area 52, Nanticoke Area 38

Eternity Aikens scored 16 points and Diamond Thorton added 10 as WBA defeated Nanticoke Area.

Shelby Ardo-Boyko and Erin Krawczeniuk had nine each for the Wolfpack.

Claire Aufiero scored 13 for Nanticoke Area.

Wallenpaupack 41, Wyoming Area 30

Ella Smith scored eight of her game-high 18 points in the third quarter, helping the Buckhorns to defeat Wyoming Area.

Morgan Janeski scored 15 points and Halle Kranson had eight for Wyoming Area.
