When will H-E-B open in Fort Worth? Construction at Alliance site seems to be moving fast

Many in Fort Worth are eager for H-E-B to open its Alliance grocery store.

The store at 3451 Heritage Trace Parkway has been under construction for almost a year. Construction began last November, but if you drive by the construction site off Heritage Trace Parkway and North Riverside Drive, it looks like work is moving very fast.

At the groundbreaking, H-E-B said the store will open in spring 2024. Is it possible that construction will finish earlier than spring? Perhaps by the holidays?

So far, H-E-B hasn’t budged.

Mabrie Jackson, a spokesperson for the privately owned company based in San Antonio, tells the Star-Telegram that the store is still on a late spring 2024 construction schedule.

Tarrant County has two H-E-Bs under construction right now. The other location is in Mansfield. H-E-B broke ground there in February, at U.S. 287 and Broad Street. The Mansfield H-E-B is also scheduled to open in “spring 2024.”

As the Star-Telegram has previously reported, H-E-B purchased other land in Fort Worth in March off the Chisholm Trail Parkway. H-E-B said it acquired the land at The Shops at Chisholm Trail Ranch in far south Fort Worth in “anticipation of (the company’s) future needs.”

When discussing adding another H-E-B to North Texas, Jackson said there are “many, many more to come.”

H-E-B has more than 430 locations in Texas and Mexico and achieved $39 billion in sales. It is the largest private employer in Texas with more than 155,000 employees across the state.
