GIRLS BASKETBALL

Trimble 46, Berne Union 43, OT: In a battle of state-ranked teams, Berne Union fell just short in their non-conference overtime loss against the visiting Tomcats.

The two teams battled to a 10-10 at the end of the first quarter before the Rockets took a 19-16 halftime lead. The score was tied at 29-29 heading into the fourth and was all even at 39-39 at the end of regulation. Trimble outscored the Rockets 7-4 in overtime.

Sophia Kline led the Rockets with a career-high 32 points, Lauren Groves finished with six and Baylee Mirgon added five points for the Rockets (10-3), who are ranked No. 9 in the Division IV Associated Press poll. Trimble (14-1) is ranked No. 5 in the same poll.

Emily Bratton led Bloom-Carroll with 15 points, while Reese Pittman and Sophia Haughn added seven points each.

Newark 55, Lancaster 32: The Lady Gales fell short in their Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division game against the visiting Wildcats. No other information was available.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Matt Keener led a balanced attack for the Knights with 13 points, Ben Hopple had 11, Jay Long added 10 and John Grabans chipped in nine points.

Amanda-Clearcreek 58, Hamilton Township 43: The Aces cruised in their Mid-State League-Buckeye Division win over the Rangers.

Clayton Rhyne led the way with 21 points, Tucker Shamblin had 14 and Tayvon Miller added nine points.

Liberty Union 52, Fairfield Union 50: The Lions pulled a hard-fought Mid-State League-Buckeye Division win over the Falcons. No other information was available.
