H.S. Roundup: Berne Union baseball edges Millersport, 2-1; B-C tops DeSales

BASEBALL

Bloom-Carroll 4, DeSales 0: Three Bloom-Carroll pitchers combined to throw a shutout in the Bulldogs’ non-conference win over the Stallions.

Jacob Genton started and pitched four innings, giving up three hits, Adam Black pitched two relief innings and didn’t allow a hit and Aaron Black pitched the final inning and did not allow a hit.

Offensively, the Bulldogs (12-2) were led by senior Tyler Parks, who went 3-for-3, including two doubles and two RBI. Ayden Anderson went 2-for-3.

Berne Union 2, Millersport 1: The Rockets were able to pull out a rain-shortened Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win over the Lakers in five innings.

Austin Snyder pitched all five innings for Berne Union as he allowed three hits, one run, and struck out seven.

Nate Nemeth led the offense by going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Rush Blank and Luke Shafer had one hit each and Zach Hartmann scored a run for the Rockets, who improved to 9-4 overall and 6-2 in the league.

Michael Levacy took the loss for the Lakers as he gave up two runs, one earned, and struck out seven. Trey Johnston went 2-for-2, including a triple and Andrew Kronebitter had one hit.

SOFTBALL

Berne Union 10, Millersport 0: The Lady Rockets scored three runs in the first and put the game away with a six-run second inning in their Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win over the Lakers.

Baylee Mirgon went 2-for-3 with a double, home run, three RBI and three runs. Josilyn Hedges was 2-for-3 and scored two runs, Hannah Brown had a hit, RBI and scored a run, and Madison Lopez hit a home run and knocked in three runs. Berne Union improved to 9-0 in the league.

Mirgon pitched four innings and didn’t allow a hit while striking out eight.

Fairfield Christian Academy 13, Harvest Prep 0: The Knights improved to 9-3 overall and 6-3 in the Mid-State League-Cardinal Division in their five-inning win against the Warriors.

Addie Stem tossed a no-hitter, striking out 14 batters, while Madison Clauss, Claire Deem, Caitlin Blair and Katy Smeltzer all had three hits. RBI hits were also recorded by Stem, Madi Rowles, Grace Johnson and Hendrix Graham.

TENNIS

Lancaster tennis meeting: There will be a girls' tennis meeting for girls at 6:30 p.m. on May 15 at the high school tennis courts for all girls entering grades 9-12 who wish to play on the tennis team in the fall.
