H.S. Roundup: Berne Union holds off Fisher Catholic in key MSL win

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Berne Union 35, Fisher Catholic 30: The Lady Rockets held on to first place in the Mid-State League-Cardinal Division with a hard-fought win over the visiting Irish.

Fisher Catholic took a 6-2 first-quarter lead, but the Rockets were able to tie it up at 10-10 at halftime. Berne Union outscored the Irish 12-5 in the third quarter to take 22-15 lead into the fourth quarter.

Sophia Kline led the Rockets (11-3, 8-1) with 20 points and Lauren Groves added six points.

Ellie Bruce led the Irish with 13 points and Ava Albert chipped in 10 points.

Lancaster 39, Groveport 32: The Lady Gales went on the road and picked up an Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division win over the Cruisers.

Kara Weaver led Lancaster (9-7, 3-5) with nine points and Peyton Wilson added eight points, while Kylie Phillips, Jenna Grabens and Avery Westbrooks chipped in seven points each.

Liberty Union 39, Circleville 33: The Lions pulled out a hard-fought Mid-State League-Buckeye Division win over the Tigers.

Ella Brown led Liberty Union with 15 points, including three 3-pointers and a 4-for-4 showing at the free throw line. Delaney Peck added nine points and Ember McClaskey chipped in six points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Fairfield Christian Academy 53, Fisher Catholic 39: The Knights cruised in their Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win over the Irish. No other information was available.
