H.S. Roundup: Bloom-Carroll stays perfect in MSL

BASEBALL

Bloom-Carroll 15, Circleville 1: The Bulldogs (10-2, 5-0) cruised in their Mid-State League-Buckeye Division win over the Tigers.

Kale Kraner went the distance, pitching seven innings, giving up five hits, one run and six strikeouts.

Tyler Parks led the way, offensively, by going 3-for-3, including a double and three RBI. Tryce Chaffin was 3-for-4, including a double and two RBI, Carsten Deibel had two hits and three RBI, Owen Conrad had two hits and two RBI, Brody Bishop went 3-for-4 and Athan McKnabb had two hits.

Millersport 6, Fisher Catholic 2: The Lakers played small ball in their Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win over the Irish.

The Lakers scored on squeezes from Trey Johnston, Andrew Kronenbitter and Mikey Smith (double squeeze) and a run stealing home by Brendan Jakeway.

Michael Levacy went 3-for- and Mikey Smith had a hit and an RBI. Jakeway picked up the win, pitching six innings, giving up two runs and striking out 10, and Levacy pitched the seventh inning, not allowing a run and striking out two.

Fairfield Christian Academy 13, Miller 5: The Knights remained unbeaten in the Mid-State League-Cardinal Division after their win over the Falcons.

Aiden Langwasser and JP Vance led the Knights’ offense with three hits each and Brayden Stem chipped in two hits and drove in four runs.  The Knights pounded out 13 hits with Matthew Keener, A.J Holbrook, Christian Schulz, Harrison Teal, and Gunner Hankinson adding a hit.

A.J. Holbrook picked up the win on the mound going four innings and only allowing two hits and striking out six.  J.P. Vance picked up the three-inning save allowing only 1 run as the Knights improved to 10-3 overall and 7-0 in the MSL.

Fairfield Union splits with HT: The Falcons dropped the continuation of a game against the Rangers, 5-3, but bounced back to win the second game 8-1 in Mid-State League-Buckeye Division play.

Ronnie Rowley went the distance allowing five hits while striking out 10. Offensively, the Falcons were led by Garrett Dilcher and Aiden McCafferty, both collecting multiple hits on the day. Malachi Palmer, Kyle Wolfe and Jacob Forson added hits as well.

Berne Union 15, Harvest Prep 0: The Rockets (8-4, 5-2) scored 10 runs in the first inning and cruised in their Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win over the Warriors.

Zach Hartmann fired a one-hitter and struck out six in four innings of work. Offensively, Clayton Moore had a double, two RBI and scored two runs, Hudson Gerken tripled and knocked in two runs, Luke Shafer had a hit and two RBI, as did Quynn Duncan and Colton Woodgeard.

SOFTBALL

Lancaster 9, Pickerington Central 2: Slylar Smith and Jessie Spurling both hit two-run home runs to help lead the Lady Gales to an Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division road win. Ashlin Mowery picked up the win in the circle.

Fairfield Christian Academy 2, Miller 0: The Knights picked a hard-fought road win over the Falcons in Mid-State League-Cardinal Division play to improve to 8-3 overall and 5-3 in the MSL.

Addie Stem was dominant in the circle, tossing a one-hitter and striking out 20 batters. At the plate, Grace Johnson and Madison Clauss both had two hits, while Stem and Caitlin Blair added one.

Liberty Union 9, Amanda-Clearcreek 7: The Lions trailed 5-1 entering the bottom of the second inning but scored seven runs in their half of the inning in Mid-State League-Buckeye Division play.

Payton Hochradel led the offense by going 3-for-4, while Emmalee Putnam and Suzie Shultz had a hit and two RBI each. Shultz picked up the win in the circle as she went the distance, giving up five earned runs and striking out nine.

Fisher Catholic 14, Millersport 4: The Irish cruised in their Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win over the Lakers.

Millersport had 10 hits, led by Emily Blevins, Emma Raver and Lexi Barch with two hits each. Blevins, Haiden Byrd, Scarlett Sheets and Kendyl Bonkowski added one RBI each.

Blevins takes the loss in the circle as she pitched four-plus innings, striking out two. Kendyl Bonkowski came in on relief.

TENNIS

Lancaster 3, Grove City 2: The Golden Gales topped the Greyhounds in non-conference action.

At No. 1 singles, Grant Hampson won 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2 singles, Will Richardson won 6-2, 6-1 and at No. 3 singles, Lilly Robinson lost 6-4, 6-2. At No. doubles, Evan Alspach and Jay Nicewanger won 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 and No. 2 doubles, Kaylee Akers and Landon Watson lost 6-1, 6-1.

Lancaster 5, Reynoldsburg 0: The Gales blanked the Raiders in Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division action.

At No. 1 singles, Parker Cohen won 4-6, 6-1, 7-6, at No. 2 singles, Grant Hampson won 6-0, 6-0 and at No. 3 singles, Will Richardson won 6-0, 6-0. At No. 1 doubles, Evan Alspach and Jay Nicewanger won 6-0, 6-2, and at No. 2 doubles, Kaylee Akers and Lilly Robinson won 6-1, 6-2.

Lancaster tennis meeting: There will be a girls' tennis meeting for girls at 6:30 p.m. on May 15 at the high school tennis courts for all girls entering grades 9-12 who wish to play on the tennis team in the fall.
