H.S. Roundup: Lady Aces lose a heartbreaker against Teays Valley

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Teays Valley 46, Amanda-Clearcreek 45: The Lady Aces lost a tough one when the Vikings (11-3, 8-1) hit a free throw with only two seconds remaining to pull out a hard-fought Mid-State League-Buckeye Division win.

The Aces (7-6, 4-4) were outstanding in the first half and led 30-12 at halftime before Teays Valley came storming back to erase the Aces’ 18-point lead.

Emily Buckley led Amanda-Clearcreek with 16 points and freshman Taylor Evans added 15.

Lancaster 71, Westland 7: The Lady Gales cruised in their non-conference win against the visiting Cougars.

Peyton Wilson led Lancaster with 13 points, Janae Grabans had 10 points, Kylie Johnson added eight and Ky Pugh and Molly Stedman chipped in seven points each.

Bloom-Carroll 39, Liberty Union 35: The Bulldogs were able to remain tied for first place in the league with a hard-fought Mid-State League-Buckeye Division win over the Lions.

Alyssa Brown scored a career-high 19 points to lead the Bulldogs (11-3, 8-1) and Marissa Wilkinson added 16.

Abbie Riddle led the Lions (7-8, 3-7) with 16 points.

Circleville 45, Fairfield Union 40: The Falcons fell short in their Mid-State League-Buckeye Division loss to the Tigers (10-3, 6-3).

Elly Lewis led the Falcons (4-8, 4-6) with 16 points and Isabella Neal added 13.

Fisher Catholic 57, Zanesville Rosecrans 26: The Irish cruised past the Bishops in a Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win.

Ellie Bruce led the Irish (11-4) with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Voni Bethel added 10 points and eight assists and Ava Albert had seven steals.

The Irish also defeated Tree of Life, 64-37, in a non-conference game. Ellie Bruce led the way with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Bethel had 18 points and eight assists and Albert finished with 12 points and seven steals.

Berne Union 62, Millersport 27: The Lady Rockets improved to 15-0 on the season after their non-conference win over the Lakers.

Sophia Kline and Baylee Mirgon led the way with 20 points each.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Fairfield Union 57, Logan 22: The Falcons cruised in their non-conference win over the Chieftains.

Caleb Redding led a group of three players in double figures with 17 points while Brennan Rowles and Ted Harrah added 10 points each.

Horizon Science 79, Millersport 66: The Lakers came up short in their non-conference loss.

Trey Johnston and Michael Levacy led the Lakers with 23 points each and Jordan Ross added 13.
