BOWLING

Lancaster falls to Newark: Benicio Saldierna rolled games of 247 and 195 for a 442 series for Lancaster in a loss to Newark, 2,313-2,115, in Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division play.

Tyler Olson added games of 210 and 203, Avery Snead 179 and 158 and Colton Pollock 167 and 156 for the Golden Gales.

In the girls’ match, Addyson Brown rolled a high game of 137 for Lancaster in a loss to Newark, 1,851-1,202. Brianna Kemp added a high game of 116.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Pickerington Central 51, Lancaster 38: The Golden Gales hung right with the defending Division I state champion Tigers for three quarters before falling short in the fourth during Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division play.

The score was tied at 6-6 at the end of the first quarter. The Gales trailed 22-11 at halftime and 33-25 heading into the fourth quarter.

Hayden Allen led the Gales with 15 points, Colton Bruny added 10 and Canon Ailes chipped in six points.

Fairfield Christian Academy 52, Berne Union 30: The Knights cruised in their Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win over the Rockets.

Ben Hopple led all scorers with 23 points for the Knights, while Samuel Rauch and John Grabans added nine points each.
