H.S. track: NFA, Stonington boys have solid day at Greater Hartford Invite

May 15—EAST HARTFORD — Norwich Free Academy and Stonington's boys enjoyed productive days during the 90th Greater Hartford Invitational track and field meet on Saturday at East Hartford High School.

The Wildcats had three individual champs and won the 4x100-meter relay while Josh Mooney was a double-winner for the Bears and Ryan Orr captured the 800.

For NFA, Dangelo Aristilde won the 100 dash in 11.03 seconds, Aldon Dawson the 200 in 23.40, Glendon Dawson the 300 hurdles in 42.17, and Aristilde and Aldon Dawson joined Stephen Lee and Jeremiah Paul to win the 4x100 in 42.28.

Mooney, meanwhile, won the 110 hurdles in 15.14 seconds and the javelin with a throw of 164 feet, 10 inches, and Orr finished the 800 in 1:28.28.

Also placing for NFA were Glendon Dawson in the 100 (4th, 11.50), Lee in the 200 (7th, 23.79), the 4x400 relay of Paul, Glendon Dawson, Michaelly Luc and Earl Louis (2nd, 3:30.19), Jordan Ribeiro in the shot put (2nd, 47-10) and discus (4th, 143-2), Lux in the long jump (5th, 20-5.5), Paul in the long jump (8th, 19-11), Jayden Desilus in the high jump (6-0) and Elias Farhad in the pole vault (5th, 12-0).

Also placing for the Bears were Ryan Gruczka in the 1,600 (2nd, 4:23.43), the 4x400 relay of Oliver Cooke, Will Sawin, Gruczka and Orr (3rd, 3:31.32) 4x800 relay Cooke, Billy deCastro, Andres Dahl and Jason Morse (4th, 8:45.62) and Steven Wilk in the 300 hurdles (7th, 44.86).

For Fitch, Thomas Forde finished second in the 800 (1:58). Also placing for the Falcons were Zayshawn Griffin in the long jump (4th, 20-6.5), Charles Cabusao in the javelin (6th, 133-9) Griffin in the triple jump (6th, 40-6.25), the 4x100 relay of Charlie Tarbox, Nymyal Gamboa, Oakley Garrison and Gavin Asciolla (5th, 45.15), the 4x400 team of Forde, Ryan Dunning, Raj Bokhiria and Amill Houston (5th, 3:40.93) and Derek Osborne in the pole vault (8th, 11-6).

For East Lyme, Christopher Munzner was second in the javelin (144-11). Other Viking place-winners were Sean McCauley in the 3,200 (6th, 10:15.96). Blake Harris in the 110 hurdles (3rd, 16.47), the 4x100 relay of Jeremiah Jean, Shawn Henning, Lucas DeNucci and Jackson Hart (6th, 45.65), the 4x400 relay of DeNucci, Brendan Fant, Kai Ritz and Finian Gates (4th, 3:35.06), Thomas Matlock in the shot put (4th, 46-11) and discus (5th, 135-10) and Nicholas Vogel in the pole vault (tie for 6th, 11-6).

— In the girls' meet, NFA's Jasmyn Bransford won one and placed second in another while teammate Hannah Graham, East Lyme's Savannah Soleau and Stonington's Nancy Inthasit also won individual events.

Bransford captured the long jump with a leap of 17-5 and finished second in the 100 to the Bears' Inthasit in 12.63 (Inthasit won in 12.51) while Graham won the discus (116-1.5) and Soleau the shot put (38-6.5).

Also placing for NFA were Avery Larkin in the discus (4th, 93-8.5), Tatiana Jones in the 300 hurdles (6th, 52.09), the 4x400 relay of Jones, Samantha Schies, Alyssa Newsom and Kaitlyn Titus (6th, 4:29.55), Graham in the shot (6th, 30-1) and Delaney Phelps in the pole vault (tie for 2nd, 9-0).

Other East Lyme place-winners were Sjodin Fedikovich in the pole vault (4th, 8-6), Lacey-Lee Keramidas in the pole vault (tie for 7th, 8-0), Soleau in the discus (3rd, 104-0.5), Isabella Bogue in the discus (6th, 86-4), Sophia Seguin in the 300 hurdles (5th, 51.82) and triple jump (8th, 33-3) Lauren Hinckley in the triple jump (3rd, 35-9.5) and the 4x400 relay of Margaret Dunne, Abigail Jorgenson, Hannah Bergeron and Izzy Pazzaglia (7th, 4:35.13).

Other Stonington place-winners were Inthasit in the 200 (3rd, 26.26), Phoebe Wherling in the javelin (4th, 100-5), Iliana Rashleigh in the 800(7th, 2:27.48) and the 4x100 team of Olivia Duhig, Helena Hoinsky, Hannah Andersen and Inthasit (3rd, 52.11).

In addition, Fitch's Amaris Johnson was fourth in the 100 dash (12.00) and Bacon Academy's Jordan Malloy was fifth in the 1,600 (5:14.04).

Runnin' Rams Invite

— Ledyard's girls won three events during Friday's Runnin' Rams Invite at Old Saybrook. May Inyang won the 100-meter dash in 12.80 seconds, Kate Littler captured the 800 in 2:23.02 and the 4x400 relay of Megan Armstrong, Ella Stephenson, Little and Lia Day won in 4:17.55.

In addition, May Inyang was second in the 200 (26.92), the 4x800 relay of Tori Schweitzer, Clare Inyang, Avery Widlicka and Josie Withbroe was third (10:38.71), Bella Schweitzer was fouirth in the triple jump (32-0) and Clare Inyang was sixth in the javelin (83-6).

— In the boys' meet, the Colonels' Ryan Tomis won the pole vault while Christian Wiltshire (triple jump), Jacob Lenz (long jump) and Auguste Estriplet (800) added fifths and the 4x100 relay of Jackson Poulton, Lenz, James Green andRoan Fothergill was fourth.
