Aaron Brooks put on a scoring clinic at the Big Ten Wrestling Championships as he won his third conference title at 184 pounds and helped Penn State take the team crown in Ann Arbor, Mich.

In the finals Sunday, Brooks, a 2018 North Hagerstown graduate, prevailed with a 12-2 major decision over Ohio State’s Kaleb Romero, improving to 12-1 for the season and 62-3 for his college career.

Brooks, the No. 1- ranked 184-pounder in the country, also won by major decision in the semifinals Saturday, 18-6 over Michigan’s Matt Finesilver, after rolling to an 18-2 tech fall over Rutgers’ Brian Soldano in the quarterfinals.

Roman Bravo-Young (133 pounds), Levi Haines (157) and Carter Starocci (174) also won titles for Penn State, which totaled 147 points. Iowa placed second (134.5) and Nebraska finished third (104.5).

Brooks won back-to-back Big Ten titles in 2020-21 before finishing second last year to Michigan’s Myles Amine, an Olympic bronze medalist.

Brooks avenged that loss at the NCAA championships, topping Amine 5-3 for his second national title.

Brooks and the Nittany Lions will be back in action at the NCAA tournament March 16-18 in Tulsa, Okla.

Penn State has won nine of the last 11 national team titles.
