Hagerstown-area Golden Corral closes

HALFWAY — The Hagerstown-area Golden Corral Buffet & Grill, near Valley Mall, closed during the New Year's Eve holiday weekend.

On Tuesday, signs posted on the restaurant's doors stated that restaurant had closed. "Thank you for allowing us to Serve You for the past 15 years" and "We will miss you!!!," the signs read.

A spokesperson for the Valley Mall, which leased the land to Golden Corral, did not immediately have further information and referred The Herald-Mail to Golden Corral.

A spokesperson with a public relations firm representing Golden Corral could not provide immediate comment when reached late Tuesday, but was checking to see if the restaurant company had a comment.

A woman leaving the closed restaurant on Tuesday referred The Herald-Mail to Golden Corral's corporate office. Messages left at that office on Tuesday had not been returned as of late Wednesday morning.

The last post on the local restaurant's Facebook page, about meals available, was posted on Dec. 31.

The restaurant is at 17635 Valley Mall Road, on an outparcel south of the mall.

The Golden Corral's website lists the Halfway restaurant as permanently closed. It also states that operations at the Martinsburg, W.Va., restaurant are temporarily suspended.
