Two Washington County residents are planning for their futures after recently winning $50,000 each in separate Maryland Lottery games.

Maurice Sumpter, 61, of Clear Spring, told the Lottery he plans to use his winnings to buy a house. Sumpter is a cook and server in Pennsylvania who enjoys drawing.

Also, a 25-year-old Hagerstown man told the agency he and his girlfriend plan to put the $50,000 in a "'rainy day fund' as they begin their lives together," according to a news release at the Lottery's website. The winner is a restaurant employee and aspiring chef.
