A Hagerstown man being held Monday morning in a Harrisburg, Pa., jail is a suspect in a case that Hagerstown Police believe is a domestic-related murder, according to a post on the police department's Facebook page.

Hagerstown Police found an apparent homicide victim Sunday after being asked around 10:30 a.m. to do a welfare check on an individual in the 400 block of McDowell Avenue, according to the post.

The victim is Renee Elizabeth Shoemaker, 57, of Hagerstown, according to police.

McDowell Avenue is off Salem Avenue in the city's West End.

Hagerstown Police have a warrant for Cleo Hermon Brown, 50, for charges that include first-degree and second-degree murder, according to Lt. Rebecca Fetchu, spokesperson for the department.

Both Brown and Shoemaker lived in the residence along McDowell Avenue, Fetchu wrote in an email to The Herald-Mail.

Harrisburg (Pa.) police came into contact with Brown around 5:30 p.m. Sunday and arrested him, according to a Hagerstown Police news release.

An extradition hearing will be held so Brown can be transported back to Maryland.

Brown was being held at the Dauphin County Prison.

"Our hearts go out to the family of the deceased and HPD will work hard to bring justice to the victim, family and friends," Hagerstown Police's Facebook post states.

Hagerstown Police, in the release, thanked Harrisburg police and Pennsylvania State Police's Troop H, which is based in Harrisburg, for their help in apprehending Brown.
