Princess Beatrice married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, after much speculation following the cancellation of their original wedding ceremony on May 29 (in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis), in a secret service in Windsor on July 17. Confirmation—and photos—have been released by Buckingham Palace, so there is no longer any question about the hairstyle that Beatrice chose to accent her vintage Norman Hartnell wedding gown and Queen Mary Diamond Fringe Tiara, which were both on loan to her by the queen.

For her big day, Beatrice styled her hair in loose, tousled curls, the perfect complement to her dress which was made of Peau de Soie ivory taffeta, trimmed with duchess satin, and adorned with organza sleeves. The gown, which was remodeled and fitted by Angela Kelly and Stewart Parvin, is encrusted in diamanté and has a geometric checkered bodice. With such a statement look for her bridal moment, it makes total sense that Beatrice would choose to keep her nuptial coif styled in such a signature—but elevated—manner.

Given the classic nature of her hairstyle, it also perfectly complemented her diamond fringe tiara. The stunning piece, which was on loan by her Majesty the Queen, was also the tiara that the bride’s grandmother wore on her wedding day. It was originally made from a necklace that was given to Queen Mary by Queen Victoria on her wedding day—fashioned into a tiara by Garrard and Co. in 1919.

The bride also kept her wedding beauty look in line with her signature style—much like her sister, Eugenie did for her 2018 nuptials—but punched it up for the memorable affair with a tonal color scheme that enhanced her eyes and peachy complexion.

Given that Beatrice is known for her penchant for daring hair accessories, her choice of tiara and accompanying hair look should come as no surprise. Of course, the look Beatrice is perhaps best known for is her dedication to daring hats and hair accessories. The princess originally caught the attention of Americans for the dramatic camel-colored hat that she wore to her cousin Prince William's wedding in 2011, but that was far from a one-time moment; in fact, Beatrice is rarely seen at an official royal event without some kind of topper. Her choice of a sleek, but bouncy hairstyle is in total accordance with her gravitation towards hair accessories—so naturally her wedding would be no different.

Many royal brides, including Grace Kelly, Meghan Markle, and her sister Eugenie opted for updos for their walks down the aisle, but it seems Princess Beatrice chose to break with tradition and accent her bridal look with her hair worn loose.
