‘The Half of It’ star Leah Lewis joins CBS’ ‘Matlock’ reboot with Kathy Bates

Leah Lewis, best known for her role as Ellie Chu in the Netflix film “The Half of It,” is set to join the cast of CBS' new drama pilot “Matlock.”

The upcoming series is a reboot of the classic legal TV drama that starred Andy Griffith. According to Deadline, the show comes from “NCIS: Los Angeles” star Eric Christian Olsen and “Jane the Virgin” creator Jennie Snyder Urman, who also wrote its script. The pilot will be directed by Kat Coiro.

Lewis will play Sarah, a junior associate at an elite law firm determined to get ahead and be recognized for her intelligence and skills. Her plans get disrupted after she learns that she must work alongside the brilliant but cunning Madeline Matlock, played by Oscar- and Golden Globe-winning actor Kathy Bates.

Other actors who will be featured in “Matlock” include David Del Rio, known for his work on projects such as ABC's “The Baker and the Beauty,” and Skye P. Marshall, who has appeared in TV series such as "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" and "This Is Us."

Lewis, who stars in Pixar’s highly anticipated romantic comedy "Elemental," will be voicing the character Rav in the upcoming Paramount toon “The Tiger's Apprentice."
