Ghouls night out: Where to score candy this Halloween in Greater Lansing

The spookiest day of the year is coming up fast. The list below includes information on when and where you can be ready to show off your cool and creepy costumes, trick or treat at special events and maybe find some sweet candy.

Along with your usual trick or treating (scroll down for city-by-city guide to times), trunk or treat events — where trick-or-treaters go from car to car instead of door-to-door — are also growing in popularity. Check out the list below for events that will be held in Greater Lansing ahead of and on Halloween night. A more detailed list of events in the area can be found on the All Events website.

St. Johns Off-Road Park Halloween Trunk or Treat | Saturday, Oct. 22, 12-1 p.m. 2710 W. Townsend Road, St. Johns

The St. Johns Off-Road Park will be decorated for the trunk or treat event where kids and pets are encouraged to show off their costumes. After the trunk or treat event, the park will open for its typical off-roading activities until 4 p.m. Admission to the park after 1 p.m. will be $10. Trunk or Treat @ Woodview 2022 | Thursday, Oct. 27, 6-8 p.m. 1500 E. State Street, Lansing

The Woodview Church of the Nazarene's event will feature spooky trunks, candy, free food and a drawing for a $100 Meijer gift card. See the event info on the 517 Living Events Calendar.

Downtown Lansing, Inc. hosts Trick or Treat on the Square | Friday, Oct. 28, 5-7 p.m. 112 Washington Square, Lansing

Trick or Treat on the Square is a "Spook-tacular" event held right in the heart downtown Lansing. This free event encourages families to come in costume and trick-or-treat at all of the businesses located along Washington Square (near the intersection with Michigan Avenue). Parking is free downtown on Fridays and there is no cost to attend. Visit the DLI Facebook page for more information.

The Village Lansing 4th Annual Trunk or Treat | Monday, Oct. 31, 5:30-8 p.m. 3525 S. Market Luther King Boulevard, Lansing

The Village Lansing Trunk or Treat returns for the 4th year. The event will be held in the Village Lansing parking lot and will feature a live DJ, a costume contest and a competition for the best decorated trunk. For more information, visit the Village Lansing Facebook page.

Jack O' Lanterns Unleashed returns to Mason | Thursday-Sunday through Oct. 30, start times vary, ends at 10 p.m. 700 E. Ash Street, Mason

The Ingham County Fairgrounds is hosting Jack O' Lanterns Unleashed again with even more to do than last year. According to the event's Facebook page, Jack O' Lantern Lane features over 5000 carved pumpkins creating 30 different scenes to enjoy. Thursdays are dog-friendly and each event day will feature rides and games, food and drink vendors and photo rooms. Tickets can be purchased here.

Trick or treating accessible for all | Sunday, Oct. 30, 3-4 p.m. at the Miracle League Field in Valley Farms Park, W. Wieland Road, Lansing

Accessible Trick or Treat is meant for people who have a disability or medical condition that will keep them from going door to door this Halloween. Snacks and candy will be handed out in the Valley Farms Park Community Center where, according to the event website, some of MSU's student athletes will make appearances to hand out candy. The organizers ask that costumes not be scary to keep up the light-hearted fun! Admission to the event is $3 and you can find more info at dewittrecreation.com.

  • Delhi Charter Township | 6-8 p.m. For more information on Halloween events and guidelines, contact the Delhi Charter Township Department of Parks and Recreation at (517) 694-1549.

  • DeWitt | 6-8 p.m. Both the city of DeWitt and DeWitt Charter Township encourage this time. You can reach the city of DeWitt at (989) 224-6721 and DeWitt Charter Township at (517) 668-0270 with any questions.
