Halloween is this east Stockton home’s holiday

For most people Christmas is the time to decorate their homes for the holiday season but not for Jeanna Pack. Halloween is her season. For the past 26 years Pack has turned her Oro Avenue home in east Stockton into a ghoulish wonder.

Home renovations caused her to get off to a bit of a late start this year but she is making up for lost time. Throughout the year Pack makes most of the props herself. For instance, she is making a giant spider out of PVC pipe, pool noodles and faux fur.

Pack said she plans up to five years in advance, gathering props and materials with a self-imposed budget of $200 for her spooky visions. Each year has a theme. In the past, she’s done aliens and the Pirates of the Caribbean. This year’s main motif is Sleepy Hollow and the Headless Horseman.

Along with that theme, Pack also puts out a few other creepy creations. Perennial favorites are a Linda Blair figure from the Exorcist climbing the side of the house and a ghostly waif sitting on her carport roof.

Pack estimates she gets about 1,000 trick-or-treaters each year and she prepares with a few hundred pounds of candy. The kids probably won’t notice if they get a Kit Kat or Butterfinger because they’ll be too busy looking at Pack’s decorations.
