Halloween goblins and ghouls invite you to these spooktacular events in Michiana

• Treats on the Trail is back for a free trick or treat event at Pinhook Park from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 15. Come in your best costume. Food available for purchase from Smothered and Covered Fries and More. Ridgedale Christian Ministries will be selling kettle corn for $6-$4. Enjoy live music on the Boomer Stage. Pinhook Park is located at 2801 Riverside Drive, South Bend. Additional parking is available at Brown Community Learning Center at 737 Beale St. A shuttle will be available to transport guests to the park.

• The annual Silverbrook Cemetery tour will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 15. Learn about several families and individuals who played an important role in the history of Niles, including the Chapins, Finleys, and Tylers. The tour meets at the corner of Main and Cherry Streets in Niles. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.

• Trunk or Treat on Island Park at the corner of N. Main and E. Sycamore Streets in Elkhart from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 15. Enter on Sycamore Street.

• Trunk or Treat at New Carlisle United Methodist Church, 300 E. Compton, New Carlisle from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 15.

• John Adams High School, 808 Twyckenham Drive, South Bend, will host a track or treat on its outdoor track from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18 for elementary age students and younger. Concessions will be available at Door 14.

• Mishawaka-Penn-Harris Public Library, 209 Lincoln Way E., Mishawaka, will celebrate Halloween with a Frightful Friday on Oct. 21. Guests can choose between the morning lineup from 10 a.m. to noon or the afternoon lineup from 3 to 5 p.m. This family friendly event features a craft, a spooky storytime, a Roz Puppet show, trick-or-treating around the library and a monster mash dance party. All activities are free but a ticket is required to attend the puppet show and those tickets must be secured ahead of time at the Mishawaka Library's Youth Services desk. Puppet show tickets are limited. Costumes are encouraged for adults and children. Adult caregivers must remain in the library for participants 11 years of age and younger.

• Zoo Boo will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Oct. 21 and 22 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Potawatomi Zoo, 500 S. Greenlawn Ave., South Bend. Ticket prices are $12; members pay $6 and children, (ages 2 and under) are free. Train ride tickets are $3 per rider over 2 years old. Carousel tickets are $3 per seated rider. All tickets include a pass to the Trick or Treat Trail. Advance tickets may expedite entry to the Zoo or tickets may be purchased at the event. The Zoo Train will be scarier after 5 p.m., please use discretion when riding with children. No full masks on guests age 15 and over. • Join Merry Lea – Farmstead Site for an “enchanted” night hike from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 21 and 22. Trail guides will lead groups by lantern light to meet friendly creatures that will tell you about their diets, habits, and favorite places. They will also answer any questions you may have. Hikes last 1 hour and leave every 25 minutes. While you wait outside, enjoy music and snacks. End the evening sipping hot cocoa around a campfire. This is a family friendly event. Cost: $3.50 per person, ages 2 and under, free. No registration required. Merry Lea Farmstead is located at 2152 S. 425 W., Albion.

• The City of Mishawaka Parks and Recreation department will hold a table or treat on the Riverwalk from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 22 along the Mishawaka Riverwalk, Spring Street, Mishawaka. There will be spooky surprises, music, and of course, candy. This event is free and open to all ages.

• Newton Park, 801 N. Michigan, Lakeville, is hosting a free trunk or treat from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 22. There will also be a Candy Graveyard Grab with 10,000 goody filled skulls for kids to collect starting at 6:30 p.m. sharp. Newton Park has partnered with The Teal Pumpkin Project to make this event food allergy friendly. Rain date is Oct. 23.

• Potato Creek State Park, 25601 Indiana 4, North Liberty will host Halloween Happenings on Oct. 22. Make a spook craft from 10 a.m. to noon at the Nature Center, carve a pumpkin from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and take part in the costume contest at 2:30 p.m. Then return on Oct. 29 for some fun with bats. Build a bat box from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Nature Center and at 7 p.m. learn about bats from bat expert, Jeremy Sheets. Regular park entrance fees apply.

• Elkhart Parks and Recreation along with the Elkhart Police and Fire departments will host the 4th annual Pine “Not So Haunted” Woods Walk from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 22 at Pinewood Park, 3499 Newton Drive, Elkhart. This free family-friendly event provides a trick-or-treating experience in which families can take a walk in the park, find photo opportunities with Halloween inflatables and décor and receive candy from local businesses and organizations.

• Michiana Food Free Trunk-or-Treat will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 22 at Shanklin Park, 411 W. Plymouth Ave., Goshen. Halloween figures, hayrides, and a free drive-in movie from 7 to 9 p.m. Costumes are optional. Sponsored by Goshen Parks and Recreation Department.

• St. Joe Today will host Spooky Tours of the St. Joe City Cemetery and Mausoleum, 1918 Lakeview Ave., St. Joseph from 1 to 6 p.m. Oct. 22. Tours will be offered every 15 minutes starting at 1 p.m. and are limited to 20 people per tour time slot. Attendees will listen to true spooky stories about the cemetery’s residents as they are guided on a 45-minute tour. Participants should dress for inclement weather and wear comfortable walking shoes for outdoor, unpaved, and paved paths. In case of inclement weather, tours will be rescheduled for Oct. 29. Ticket holders will be notified of any cancellations or changes. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased online at stjoetoday.com/tours.

• Harvest Fest 2022 and Trunk-n-Treat will be held at Dr. T.K. Lawless Park, 15122 Monkey Run St., Vandalia on Oct. 22. Admission is one canned good item per person or $1 per person or a donation of a pet supply for Cass County Animal Control. Trunk-n-Treat will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. only. There are activities for the entire family and include a fun trail, inflatables, choo-choo ride, hayride, face painting, zipline, costume contest, bonfire and more. Food available for purchase. Free pumpkins to children ages 10 and under while supplies last. Event is hosted by the Cass County Parks Department.

• It’s time for Wolf Park’s Pumpkin Party! Hit the colorful fall trail to watch ambassador animals enjoy their pumpkin treats from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 22. Pumpkin treats for the animals will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Live music performed by The Hazelnuts will be from 6 to 7 p.m. and Howl Night will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Snacks, hot chocolate, music, food, and beer will be available. Reserve your tickets at wolfpark.org. Wolf Park is located at 4004 E. 800 N., Battle Ground, Indiana.

Cops and Goblins Trick-or-Treating 2022, hosted by the South Bend Police Department and the South Bend Cubs will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at Four Winds Field, 501 W. South St., South Bend. Participants will enter through the center field gate. Tickets are free, but supplies are limited. One ticket is needed for each person in a family or group that attends. Tickets are available at the following South Bend locations: South Bend Police Department front desk, 701 W. Sample St.; South Bend Cubs Den Team Store, 420 S. William St., Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Charles Black Community Center, 3419 W. Washington St.; Martin’s Super Markets, 2801 South Bend Ave. and 525 S. Mayflower Road.

• Trick or Treat on Eddy Street Commons, 1234 N. Eddy St., South Bend, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25. This event is for children 10 years old and younger in costume. Parents must accompany children throughout the event. There will be a balloon twister, games, crafts and music. Rain date is Oct. 26. Event subject to change without notice.

• Riley High School National Honor Society, 1902 Fellows St., South Bend, will hold an indoor trick or treat event from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 25 for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.

• The Studebaker National Museum will hold its annual Trunk or Treat Halloween Party from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 26. There will be treats and a spooky skeleton scavenger hunt. Children must be in costume and accompanied by an adult. The museum is located at 201 Chapin St., South Bend.

• Say Boo to Drugs – Safe Trick or Treat will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 27 at Howard Park, 219 S. St. Louis Blvd., South Bend. 525 Foundation offers this free, costumed event to provide the community with a safe trick or treat event while also getting substance abuse prevention materials into the hands of families.

• Trunk or Treat with the Roseland Police from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Quality Inn, 215 N. Dixie Way, South Bend.

• Unity Gardens presents a Spooktacular Haunted Trail from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Unity Gardens Welcome Center, 3701 Prast Blvd., South Bend. Dare to walk the haunted trail, take part in the costume contest and enjoy activities for both kids and adults. For more information, go online to www.theunitygardens.org.

• Trick or Treat at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds, 17746-D County Road 34, Goshen, from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 28. Enter through Gate 2 and park outside the Elkhart County Community Center. Once parked, enter through the main gate. This event is free, and no registration is required. Just show up in Halloween attire and enjoy a family-friendly event.

• Halloween Campfire and Hayrides will be offered at Ox Bow Park, 23033 County Road 45, Goshen, from 7 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 28 and 29. Enjoy craft/activity stations, a fire dancer, food trucks, night hikes, ghost stories, and hayrides. The cost is $5 at the gate; ages 2 and younger are free.

• West Side Church of Christ, 22987 W. Edison Road, South Bend, will host Trunk or Treat from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Oct. 29.

• Marshall County Historical Society Museum, 123 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, will host a Ghost Walk at 7 p.m. Oct. 29. The Ghost Walk highlights the interesting lives and untimely deaths of Marshall County residents. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the museum. Ticket sales are limited. Tour groups are assigned with ticket purchase. Arrive between 6:30 and 6:50 p.m. For more information, call 574-936-2306.

• A Trunk or Treat event will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at River Park Square, 112 Water St., Plymouth.

• Elkhart Parks and Recreation will host a drive-in movie at Ideal Beach, 52256 Ideal Beach Road, Elkhart, on Oct. 29 “Hocus Pocus” will be shown on the big screen, and moviegoers have the option of watching from their car or a seating area in front with their chairs and blankets. Admission is free. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the movie will start at 6 p.m.

• The Wakarusa Chamber Fall Party will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 29 in downtown Wakarusa. The costume contests will be held from 3 to 4 p.m., cake walks from 4 to 5 p.m., and for a small fee go, through the haunted museum from 7 to 9 p.m.

• The 17th annual Trek-or-Treat event at McCoy’s Creek Trail will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Oct. 29. There will be costumed characters passing out candy on the trail. No pets allowed. The trail is located at 209 Schirmer Parkway, Buchanan.

• Sarett’s Spooky Halloween will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Oct. 29. Take a stroll through the trails and visit spooky craft, game and other fun activity stations. There will be a hayride, live animals and photo opportunities. Tickets should be purchased in advance at $5 per person for ages 2 and older. Go to sarett-nature-center.square.site/Halloween-tickets. Sarett Nature Center is located at 2300 N. Benton Center Road, Benton Harbor.

• Berrien County Animal Control Trunk or Treat will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 29 at 1400 S. Euclid Ave., Benton Harbor. Please leave family pets at home.

• First United Methodist Church, 720 S. Main St., Middlebury, will host a trunk or treat event from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 29.

• Come to the LaPorte County Historical Society Museum, 2405 Indiana Ave., LaPorte, for a ghoulish good time. From 2 to 4 p.m. CDT, Oct. 29, visit period rooms to get a trick or a treat from a pioneer, Victorian, Midcentury Madame and more. The cost is adults, $5; seniors, $4; members, free; children, free.

• The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum will hold its Halloween Train on Oct. 29. The train departs at 4:45 p.m. CDT for a 1½-hour trip through rural farm country and wooded areas. The ride includes a “Not-So-Scary, Scary Animal Show” which is fun and educational. Costumes encouraged, but dress warmly. Reservations can be made at www.hoosiervalley.org. Tickets must be picked up in the depot prior to boarding the train. The cost is: adults, $20; children (ages 3 to 15), $14. The museum is located at 507 N. Mulberry, North Judson.

• Safety Town Halloween Extravaganza, 702 E. Lafayette St., Sturgis, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 29. Participants can trick or treat, board a haunted bus, eat doughnuts, take a hayride and play games.

• Journeyman Distillery, 109 Generations Drive, Three Oaks, will host a Halloween Dance Party from 8 to 11 p.m. Oct. 29. Firepits will be blazing and there will be dancing and Spooktacular Halloween-inspired cocktails. Enter the costume contest. First place will win a $300 Journeyman gift card. • Tabor Hill Winery and Restaurant, 185 Mt. Tabor Road, Buchanan, presents “Terror at Tabor Spooky Speakeasy” at 6 p.m. Oct. 29. Terror at Tabor turns back the clock to the glitz and glamour of the 1920s. The featured cocktail for the evening will be Giggle Water. Music from 6 to 10 p.m. by The-BBQS DJ Collective and food truck offerings by Wood, Stock & Grill. Costumes are encouraged. Tickets are $20-$15; must be 21 or older. • Galien American Legion Post 344, 402 N. Cleveland Ave., Galien, will hold a Halloween Party from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 29 with free food, candy, cake, and a costume contest with prizes.

• Celebrate Howl-O-Ween at Wolf Park, 404 E. 800 N., Battle Ground, Indiana, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Howl with the wolves, take a lantern lit tour, see animal ambassadors, and learn about wolf mythology and local haunting stories. Wear a costume and bring some treats for the wolves. The park accepts hot dogs or summer sausages. Tickets are $15-$10, ages 5 and younger are free with an adult ticket and can be purchased online at wolfpark.org.

• ZB Falcons Nest 80, 323 S. Sheridan St., South Bend, will host an indoor trick or treat event from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Oct. 30.

• Trunk or Treat will be hosted by North Liberty Church of Christ, 65225 Indiana 23, North Liberty, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31. Family fun event with candy, hot dogs and inflatables.

• Trunk or Treat will be hosted by the American Legion, 201 E. Lincoln St., Nappanee, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31.

• The City of Nappanee offers the following activities on Oct. 31: Room on the Broom Storywalk from 5 to 7 p.m. Join the library for a walk around Nappanee Elementary School, 755 E. Van Buren St., as they read a Halloween story. After the walk, participants will get to spin the prize wheel. Older children may enjoy a trip to the Mad Scientist from 5 to 7 p.m. Enjoy activities inside the Nappanee Boys and Girls Club, 900 E. Centennial St., and hang out with the Mad Scientist. All are invited to take part in the Cute and Creepy Costume Contest, starting at 7:15 p.m. at the Nappanee Boys & Girls Club. Limit 25 contestants per group. • Southwestern Michigan College, 58900 Cherry Grove Road, Dowagiac, will hold a trunk or treat event from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31 in the Student Activity Center parking lot. Children of all ages are invited. Games and apple cider will also be available. The parking lot is located just off Dailey Road.
