Halloween is Monday, Oct. 31. Here's a list of some spooky and not-so-spooky events, parades and haunted happenings around the Seacoast. If you'd like to add an event, email information to news@seacoastonline.com.
Wednesday, Oct. 27
Ridge Scare trick or treating
The Ridge Scare trick or treating hosted by The Ridge Marketplace will be Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the shopping plaza at 92 Farmington Road in Rochester. Wear your costumes, bring a goodie bag and get ready to trick or treat at the Ridge’s participating stores. Free admission. Sages Entertainment will be providing Halloween activities for kids.
Trunk or treat in Rochester
First City Cars and Trucks will host its third annual trunk or treat, on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at its Flagg Road store in the Gonic area of Rochester. Friendly staff will be handing out candy at this not-so-spooky event for all ages. This is an indoor event, rain or shine. There will be a multi-category costume contest with gift card prizes. Aurora Woods in Barrington
Come if you dare to Aurora Woods for a haunted walk, 6 Keefe Road, Barrington on Friday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. Free entry but donations to keep the event growing are greatly appreciated.
Trick or Treat at Center for Wildlife
The Center for Wildlife will be hosting its annual Trick or Treat on Oct. 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. at 375 Mountain Road, in Cape Neddick area of York, Maine. There'll be a Trick or Treat trail set up throughout the Nature Center and newly built Outdoor Ambassador enclosures where kids can stop by candy stations while meeting CFW ambassador animals. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Kit Supply & Co. will be running a Craft Corner and also have plenty of Halloween crafts, books, clothing and more for sale in its pop-up shop. Tickets are required for both parents and children aged 12 months and up. This event sells out each year, be sure to get tickets early. Trolleyween at Seashore Trolley Museum
KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine – All Aboard! To celebrate the last days of Seashore Trolley Museum’s 2022 regular operating season, the community is invited to participate in Trolleyween on Friday, Oct. 28, Saturday, Oct. 29 and Sunday, Oct. 30 during the Museum’s regular hours, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Admission is $10 per person and infants ages 0-2 are free. Purchase tickets at the door or in advance at https://trolleyween.eventbrite.com.
Several activities for all ages will be available across the museum’s mostly outdoor campus, including:
Trick or Treat! Several candy stations will be set up across the museum’s campus for guests of all ages to enjoy. Yes, adults can trick or treat too!
Come in Costume! Guests of all ages in costume will receive an additional bag of treats before you board your trolley ride. A social media costume contest will also take place following each event day for those who would like to enter.
Ghost Hunt! All guests will have the opportunity to search for lollipop ghosts hidden around the Museum. Lucky guests who find a ghost will be entered into a raffle for a free family membership for the 2023 season! Ghosts will be replenished throughout the event to ensure guests visiting at any time have the opportunity to play.
Photo Scavenger Hunt! A popular Seashore activity is back for a new round of items to search for. Post your photos on the museum’s social media pages for your chance to win a free family membership for the 2023 season.
Haunted House Cookie Decorating! (Saturday and Sunday only). Decorate a house-shaped sugar cookie into the most delicious haunted house ever.
Unlimited Trolley Rides! Hop on as many trolley rides as you would like during your visit and tour the heritage railway. The last trolley departs at 3:45 p.m. each day.

Barrington Fall Fest
Barrington Fall Fest is Oct. 29, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Barrington Recreation Department field, 105 Ramsdell Lane in Barrington. This is a free celebration. There will be fun fall activities, trunk-or-treat, a spooky walk, an outdoor market and food trucks.
Trunk or treat in Berwick
Berwick Recreation will host a trunk or treat event on Oct. 29, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., at 11 Sullivan St., Berwick, Maine. Come and check out all the trunks and get your share of Halloween treats.
Witches’ Market and Ball in Dover
The Groovy Witch, an eclectic fashion and metaphysical boutique in Dover, is hosting a Witches’ Market and Ball at Dover City Hall on Oct. 29, from 8 to 10 p.m. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. The ball is for ages 18-plus. Performances at the ball include sounds by DJ Victoria, dancing by Zabel and the ZaBellies, and an appearance by Bianca York. Tickets are $25/per person online at groovywitch.com or Eventbrite/DoverWitchBall2022 or at The Groovy Witch, 332 Central Avenue, Dover. Before the ball, there'll be a Witch’s Market from 12:30 to 5 p.m., featuring 30-plus artisan vendors specializing in metaphysical products and services. Vendors will include Tarot readers, astrologers, a local furniture upcycling business, Viking wares and more. There is no admission fee to shop.
Not-so-Spooky Spectacular Halloween in Dover
The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire in Dover is hosting a Not-so-Spooky Spectacular Halloween event that focuses on fun - not fright! The celebration is Saturday, Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. with special activities, all free with regular museum admission. Kids and adults are encouraged to come in costume to explore our exhibits and participate in a costume parade at 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. Check out some fantastical science experiments, visit the STEAM Lab to create take-home crafts, pose for pictures with fun props in front of a full moon backdrop, and try out our pumpkin scavenger hunt to receive an extra special prize at the end of your visit. Please note no candy is handed out at this event. Simply reserve spots in the museum’s morning or afternoon play session on Saturday, Oct. 29 - it’s included with museum admission, and as always, free for members. Halloween parade and costume contest in Exeter
Exeter's annual Halloween parade and costume contest will be held Saturday, Oct. 29 at 10:30 a.m. downtown. Costume judging begins at 10:30 a.m. and the parade starts at 11 a.m., followed by trick or treating downtown.
Family Fall Festival in Portsmouth
The Portsmouth Recreation Department is planning the second annual Family Fall Festival at the athletic field on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event includes family games, crafts, entertainment, food trucks and a Touch-a-Truck experience.
Zombie Bash and Trunk-Or-Treat in Rochester
Rochester Mainstreet Zombie Bash and Trunk-Or-Treat, will take place Saturday, Oct. 29, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Rochester Downtown River Walk. This year the event will start with the Zombie Walk. Dancers will leave the River Walk area and make the loop around Bridge Street, River Street and make their way back to River Walk. At the River Walk, downtown businesses will be set up for trunk-or-treat. In addition to candy, there will be pumpkin painting, vendors, games and more.
Brentwood Tractor Supply Company Store to host Halloween pet photos
BRENTWOOD — Tractor Supply Company is inviting customers to celebrate the Halloween season with a pet photo event at its Brentwood store. On Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., customers can bring in their four-legged family members, with or without costume, to have their photos taken by a local photographer. The first 25 participants will also receive a free magnetic picture frame. This event is open to the public and will take place at 437 Route 125. Trick or Treat Trot 5K in Exeter
Exeter Hospital’s 10th annual Trick or Treat Trot 5K will be held on Oct. 30, at 10 a.m. Starting on the campus of Exeter Hospital, teams of walkers, joggers, runners, and hundreds of supporters of all ages, many in their Halloween costumes, will take part in the Jim Dill Memorial Trick or Treat Trot 5K and United In Wellness Cancer Walk. Now in its tenth year, this major event will support the goals of the hospital’s historic Together We Can fundraising campaign to expand cancer care and other vital health care services in the Seacoast region. People of all ages and all abilities can participate. Additionally, there is a Creepy Crawler Fun Run for kids. Costumes are encouraged and prizes will be awarded for best costumes and fundraising achievements. For more information about participating and to register, visit unitedinwellness.org.
Kittery Community Market Halloween Party
Kittery Community Market will host a Halloween Party Sunday, Oct. 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 10 Shapleigh Rd, Kittery, Maine. There will be trick-or-treating from the vendors, a costume party, magic and balloon art by Sages Entertainment, live music by Southern New Hampshire Ukulele Group, and a spooky dance show by The Block Collaborative.
Monday, Oct. 31
Portsmouth Halloween Parade
The 27th Portsmouth Halloween Parade will be held, Monday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m. Get ready to hoot, holler, slither, stomp, and roar through the streets of Portsmouth. The parade kicks off from Pierce Island. Details can be found at portsmouthhalloweenparade.org.

Trick or Treat parade in Farmington
Farmington’s annual Trick or Treat parade will be held Monday, Oct. 31. Parade is at 4 p.m. and trick or treat is from 5 to 7 p.m. Kids doing the parade need to be at the Rec and lined up at 3:45 p.m.
