Halloween happenings: SouthCoast haunted houses, trick-or-treating and ghoulish fun
The spooky season is creeping up on us and it's time to get your fill on all things Halloween. The haunted season is usually a fan favorite with all the ghosts, ghouls and gore that come along with it.
From not-so-spooky activities for the little ones to frightening haunts for adults, the SouthCoast is ready to embrace all things Halloween.
There are carved pumpkins to see, candy to enjoy, scary décor to admire, and frights to be had in this listing of all the spooktacular things taking place in the area. There's no shortage of activities taking place this fall to fill your calendars with Halloween fun so grab your costumes, get your treats bags ready and enjoy these eerie happenings.
Factory of Terror
When: Various times and days from now until Monday, Oct. 31
Where: Factory of Terror, 120 Pearl St., Fall River
Cost: $17-$25
Factory of Terror is an indoor haunted house offering a frightening and spooky experience. With realistic, detailed rooms featuring cutting-edge special effects and horror actors wearing professionally applied make-up and prosthetics.
Fear Town Haunted House
When: Various times and days from now until Sunday, Oct. 30
Where: Seekonk Speedway, 1710 Fall River Ave., Seekonk
Cost: $20-$54
There are three haunted houses providing over 45 minutes worth of bone-chilling scares. In addition to the haunted houses, Fear Town has a midway full of games, experiences, food and entertainment to enjoy.
Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular
When: 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. from now until Monday, Oct. 31
Where: Roger Williams Park Zoo, 1000 Elmwood Ave., Providence, R.I.
Cost: Monday through Thursday: adult $18, child $15; Friday through Sunday: adult $21, child $18; toddlers 1 and under are always free.
Celebrate the Halloween season with a visit to Roger Williams Zoo's Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular. Stroll through a path that features thousands of intricately carved pumpkins. This year's spectacular takes you from Mr. Ed to the Walking Dead, celebrating the greatest television shows of all time.
Boo at the Zoo
When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, October 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30
Where: Buttonwood Park Zoo, 425 Hawthorn St., New Bedford

Boo at the Zoo will satisfy all your fall, Halloween, and cool weather cravings. Get into your costumes and enjoy the campus-wide daytime trick-or-treating.
Samhain Halloween - Psychic Fair
When: Noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2
Where: Rachel's Lakeside, 950 State Road, Dartmouth
Cost: $5
Trick or Treat! Connect with loved ones, embrace spirituality, and entertain tarot, mediumship, healing, and wellness. Bringing together over 30-40 New England paranormal and witchy craft vendors, psychics, and witches from across the region.
Pumpkin Smash Spooktactular
When: 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8
Where: Seekonk Speedway, 1710 Fall River Ave., Seekonk
Cost: adult $25; child (6-12) $12; 5 and under free
The Great Pumpkin Smash with costume contests for kids, adults, and cars as well as over 10,000 pounds of pumpkins smashed on the race track. There are also spectator drags, car and truck enduro, figure 8 races, backward races, trailer races, enduro drags, enduro races, and more.
Blazing Saddles Halloween
When: 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9
Where: Blazing Saddles, 263 Mill Road, Fairhaven
Cost: $15 per person over 2 years old
The animal sanctuary is raising money for the animals, so grab your costume and have some fun. The event will have, a petting zoo, trunk or treat, pictures, vendors, Bluey, a reptile show, and a bounce house. For an extra cost, there are also camel encounters, pony rides, and pumpkin picking.
The Great Pumpkin Parade
When: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13
Where: Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum, 396 County St., New Bedford
Cost: suggested donation of $5 individuals, $10 family
Visit the grounds to see a display of Jack-O-Lanterns, carved with care by community members. Inside the mansion, children can participate in a scavenger hunt with prizes and refreshments will be served.
Battleship Boo Bash
When: Fridays, Oct. 14, Oct. 21, or Oct. 28
Where: Battleship Cove, 5 Water St., Fall River
Cost: $10 per person
Trick or treat aboard the historic naval vessels at Battleship Cove and meet friendly costumed characters as you tour the museum. The price includes candy, activities, and admission to the museum. At the end of the night, a raffle will be held with some great prizes.
Halloween Bash
When: 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15
Where: Onset VFW, 4 Gibbs Ball Park Road, Wareham
Cost: $20 for adults, under 18 with an adult free.
Halloween costume party in honor of Joseph Pittsley, a young Wareham resident who died from brain cancer. There will be Halloween snacks, costume prizes, raffles, and DJ Dstruct.
MonstahXpo
When: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16

Food, prizes, candy, and more. Kids in costumes get candy!
Halloween Happening
When: noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23
Where: Westport Woods, 573 Adamsville Road, Westport
Cost: $5 per child
You will have a "spooktacular" time at the Halloween Happening event. Wear your costume and enjoy: a trick-or-treat trail, outdoor games, pumpkin painting, meeting members of the police and fire departments, and there will be food to purchase.

Myth Busters: Lore and Magic in Copicut Woods
When: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28
Where: Copicut Woods, Indian Town Road, Fall River
Cost: members: adult $9, child $6; nonmembers: adult $15, child $10
Superstitions have long surrounded Copicut Woods, and rumors of witchcraft and other paranormal activity circulate the property to this day. On Halloween weekend explore the history of Copicut’s local lore. This guided hike will travel through an abandoned farm settlement and the 150-year-old stone-wall-lined Miller Lane.
2nd annual Halloween Bash at Pier 52
When: 8 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, Oct. 29
Where: Pier 52, 52 Ferry St., Fall River
'Wild Nites' will be partying from 8 p.m. to midnight with prizes for best costume and best couples costume. Spooky shots and a limited menu will be available.
Paul Bielatowicz’s “Nosferatu” Live - Halloween Spooktacular
When: doors open at 7 p.m.; the show starts at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29
Where: Narrows Center for the Arts, 16 Anawan St., Fall River

The 1922 silent horror movie “Nosferatu” has been terrifying audiences for 100 years. Join us on Halloween weekend for a Spooktacular live performance of a new rock soundtrack that breathes new life into the undead classic. A Haunted Halloween at Kilburn Mills

A Haunted Halloween is a 21+ event with DJ Fresco and DJ Truevibe playing all the favorite hits. Felix Brown Band will be playing live music covers of your favorite hits from back in the day. Costumes are very encouraged but not required.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
When: 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30
Where: Zeiterion Performing Arts Center, 684 Purchase St., New Bedford
Cost: $17 general admission
RKO Army performs a live shadowcast of The Rocky Horror Picture Show on stage as the 1975 film starring Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon rolls on screen. The cult classic holds a unique place in film history, and this live iteration offers an unconventional interpretation for enthusiasts and first-timers alike. Audience participation is strongly encouraged.
