Halloween Haunt is about to open at Worlds of Fun, with a price hike and new rules

Halloween Haunt is back at Worlds of Fun to close out its 50th season, and it’s coming with a price hike.

For the first time, your regular Worlds of Fun access ticket will no longer allow you inside the park during the scary hours. Visitors will need a separate ticket to access the scary mazes, walk-throughs and other nighttime Halloween attractions, which start Sept. 15.

These stand-alone tickets cost $39.99 before fees online. The website says tickets cost $75 at the gate. If you have a Gold or Platinum pass, you can buy a bring-a-friend pass for $34.99 before fees online, and $75 at the gate.

Last year, $34.99 daytime park tickets also provided access to Halloween Haunt, and the bring-a-friend pass cost $19.99

You can buy a combo ticket for both the amusement park and Halloween Haunt online for $54.99, not counting fees. At the gate, a combo ticket costs $99.99.

Worlds of Fun is also implementing a new chaperone policy for Halloween Haunt. All guests ages 15 and younger must be accompanied by someone 21 and older. The chaperone has to present a valid ID with date of birth at the ticket entry gates.

Halloween Haunt is open on select Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until Oct. 29. All guests, regardless of what ticket they have, will have to leave the park at 5 p.m. so Worlds of Fun staff can transition the park to nighttime operations for Halloween Haunt. The park will open back up at 6 p.m.

What’s new at Halloween Haunt

New to Worlds of Fun this year is Pumpkin Eater: Dead Harvest walk-through scare zone. Guests will try to escape a 7-foot-tall creature that haunts the area. Two new live shows are also starting this year: The Spectral Sisters in the daytime and The Ringmaster’s Last Laff at night.

Guests can also enjoy a Zombie Boo-ffet dining experience for an additional $45.

Old attractions are also returning to Halloween Haunt, including:

  • Mazes like Lore of the Vampire, Blood on the Bayou, Bloodshed, Cornstalkers, Zombie High and Ripper Alley

  • The Outlaws Revenge, Street Freaks and Malice in Wonderland scare zones

  • Overlord’s Awakening, Conjure the Night, Haunted Homecoming live shows

For the kids, The Great Pumpkin Fest starts Sept. 16. They can celebrate with Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang and pick pumpkins, go through mazes and trick-or-treat throughout the day.
