Halloween revelers poke fun at China COVID curbs

STORY: Police were seen escorting the Halloween revelers dressed up as COVID-19 prevention workers protesting against China’s previously harsh zero-Covid regime.

Reuters was able to confirm the location as Shanghai from the seating, signs and walls seen in the video which matched file footage of the area.

Almost a year ago Shanghai was the site of historic protests over China's stringent COVID restrictions that spread to several cities.

It was seen as a trigger for the country to change its COVID policy in December last year.

Public critiques of government policies are rare in China, where authorities have been cracking down on free expression.
