Pick a pumpkin or take a ride to the darkside

EAST WINDSOR — The Connecticut Trolley Museum, 58 North Road (Route 140), presents Pumpkin Patch and Rails to the Darkside, two major fundraisers for the museum, on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Pumpkin Patch is for younger children and is included with the price of admission: $14, adults; $13, seniors and ages 12-17; $12, ages 2-11; free, younger than 2.

Rails to the Darkside is rated PG-13 and recommended for 16 and older. Hours are 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and must be purchased online.

Pumpkins with a purpose

COVENTRY — The lawn at First Congregational Church, 1171 Main St., has been transformed into a huge pumpkin patch that is open weekdays from noon to 6 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Proceeds from the sale of the pumpkins and specialty gourds will go toward community and local church missions.

Strange things at Woodbridge

MANCHESTER — Check out the strange noises heard from the old barn at the Woodbridge Farmstead, 495 East Middle Turnpike, on Sunday from noon to 2 p.m.

WINDSOR LOCKS — Kids are invited to dress in costume and get their picture taken in front of a spooky backdrop at the Windsor Locks Public Library, 28 Main St. on Wednesday between 3 and 6:30 p.m.

Children can also decorate a Halloween ghost cookie, enter a guessing jar contest, get a Halloween treat bag, and do a fun scavenger hunt.

No registration is required. The photo session is best suited for up to age 9; ghost cookies are best for ages 4-12.

Twain ghost tour
