Halloween weather forecast: What to expect as some Shore towns postpone trick-or-treating

As you ready your costumes, be sure to also pack an umbrella and a pair of sturdy rain boots, as today's weather forecast calls for a ghastly mixture of wind, rain and a significant temperature drop.

Here's how the weather will affect Halloween happenings across the Eastern Shore.

HALLOWEEN FAVORITES: Trick or treat, Maryland! Here's your favorite Halloween candy, costume and movie of 2023

So far, two Delmarva Halloween festivities have been rained out this year, and postponed as a result.

Pocomoke City's trick or treating has been postponed until Wednesday, Nov. 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. due to inclement weather concerns, according to a Facebook post. The city also advised its residents to be safe this Halloween.

Likewise, the town of Chincoteague has postponed its trick or treating to Wednesday, Nov. 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. As a result, Main Street will be closed to all traffic from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday from Marlin Street to Smith Street.

This year, Halloween is proving to be extra spooky as wind and rain pummel the Delmarva Peninsula.

According to The Weather Channel's 10-day weather forecast, light rain is expected throughout much of the day in Pocomoke City. Showers will continue into the late afternoon, with the temperature reaching a high of 52 degrees. Winds will blow North at 5 to 10 mph. Likewise, tonight, trick-or-treaters can expect more wind, rain showers and a low of 40 degrees.

For Salisbury, per The Weather Channel, expect showers at times throughout the day, with a high of 52 degrees and a low of 39 degrees. Rain showers will continue into the night, with winds blowing NNW at 5 to 10 mph, with a chance of rain at 40%.

The Weather Channel is also calling for rain all day in Chincoteague, Virginia. Temperatures are said to reach a high of 53 degrees and a low of 43 degrees. Be wary, trick-or-treaters, as winds are said to blow North at 5 to 10 mph during the day, and NNW at 10 to 20 mph later in the night. Showers will continue overnight, leading to cloudy skies.
