Rock Bridge, Hallsville earn rivalry wins: Boone County football Week 7 scores

There were two major rivalry games playing in the slate of games Friday night in Boone County high school football, with Rock Bridge and Hallsville being two of the four teams that won.

Rock Bridge, Hallsville, Centralia and Harrisburg all were victorious. None of the games were within one score.

The Bruins' win over Battle was a one-score game until a last-second touchdown pushed Rock Bridge to a 13-point triumph. After nearly staging a comeback last week, Hallsville left no doubt in a Tri-County Conference win over Southern Boone.

Here's a roundup of Week 7 action under the Friday night lights:

Boone County high school football Week 7 roundup

Rock Bridge 48, Battle 35: Sam Kaiser threw for a first down with about two minutes remaining as Rock Bridge held off a furious Battle comeback. The Spartans trailed by three scores in the fourth quarter but cut their deficit to 42-35 with two Rickie Dunn touchdowns and an onside kick in the middle to get the ball back. Dunn ran for three touchdowns, and Kaiser threw for three touchdowns. Tomisaac Johnson put an exclamation point on the win with a rushing touchdown as time expired. With the win, Rock Bridge claims its first Central Missouri Activities Conference title.

Grain Valley 52, Hickman 20: Tionne Milo rushed for a 70-yard score in the second quarter, the lone highlight for Hickman in the first half. Grain Valley led 45-8 at the break. Hickman got a second touchdown from Milo in the second half, as well as a 70-yard touchdown pass from Lucas Murray to Devin Holt.

Harrisburg 28, Westran 18: A one-score first half erupted into a small shootout in the second half. Trace Combs threw a 12-yard touchdown to Austin Darwent to put the Bulldogs up 8-0 at halftime. Harley Whitaker returned an interception 76 yards for a touchdown late in the third quarter, and Combs connected with Darwent again in the fourth to seal the win.

Hallsville 48, Southern Boone 27: After having its offense stymied at home a week ago, Harrison Fowler rushed for four touchdowns as Hallsville got back on track at home. Hallsville led the Eagles 22-12 at halftime, but Hallsville's 26-point second half was too much for Southern Boone to keep up with.

Centralia 42, Highland 6: The Panthers' two-way formula continued Friday with the offense putting up points and the defense limiting the opposition. This week, Centralia quarterback Cullen Bennett was efficient. He completed 10 of his 14 passes for 194 yards and four touchdowns. The Panthers' defense defended 59 Highland plays, allowing 290 yards and forcing two turnovers in the win.
