Halsey’s acting era is just getting started.

Today, A24 has released casting news for the highly anticipated X and Pearl sequel Maxxxine, and among the stars set to go on the dark journey is the “I am not a woman, I’m a god” singer.

Ti West is back as the writer and director and Mia Goth reprises her X role as Maxine. Along with Halsey, A24 announced that Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon are set to join the feature that begins shooting in Los Angeles this month.

The film picks up following the events of X, and sees Maxine, the sole survivor of the farmhouse massacre, making her way to Los Angeles in the 1980s to become a star and “a f*cking sex symbol.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources have shared that the story will focus on the dangerous world of underground filmmaking. And while no official announcements have been made regarding the characters, some scarce details can offer some hints of where the film is going. “Esposito plays an agent for adult film and Z-list movie actors while Debicki is a film director. Monaghan and Cannavale are LAPD detectives while Bacon is a private detective,” writes THR.

No word yet on who Halsey will be playing, but potentially it could be a fellow actor caught up in that same dangerous underground. We’ll have to wait and see.

Both X and Pearl were critically acclaimed and built excitement with their surprise revelations of their sequels. In the case of X, which followed Goth’s character making an adult film in a Texas farmhouse, only for her friends and co-stars to fall victim to its homicidal owners, the film closed out its credits with a surprise trailer for the prequel, Pearl. It had secretly already been completed and featured Goth playing a new role, that of the titular Pearl set in 1919.

Once again, Pearl closed out with a teaser that a third chapter in the story was on the way, with the Hollywood sign changed to “Maxxxine.” We can’t wait to see what wickedness Goth, West, and Halsey have in store for audiences this time around.
