Hamburg sets school record, rolls to victory over Warrior Run in high school football

Sep. 3—Pierce Mason scored four touchdowns and Xander Menapce threw for three touchdowns and ran for two to lead Hamburg to a 75-21 win over Warrior Run in a non-league football game Friday night at Hamburg.

The 75 points are a school single-game record, breaking the mark of 61 set against Kutztown in 2020.

Mason scored on a 87-yard kickoff return to open the game, a 23-yard run, a 49-yard punt return and a 6-yard run.

Menapace threw TD passes of 31 yards and 25 yards to Ty Werley, and 12 yards to Alex Bentz. He scored on runs of 17 yards and 6 yards.

Also scoring for Hamburg were Ronny Parra on a 12-yard run and Tyler Shuey on a 9-yard run.

The Hawks (2-0) scored 35 points in the third quarter and led 55-21 at the half.

Warrior Run (0-2) scored on a 69-yard pass from Ryan Newton to Carter Marr, a 75-yard interception return by Colby LeBarron and a 20-yard run by Stone Allison.

Mason finished with seven carries for 81 yards and two catches for 18 yards. Menapace completed 12-of-15 passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. He also ran for 53 yards on five carries.

Also for Hamburg, which had 511 yards of offense, Derek Ruiz ran eight times for 78 yards, and Werley had three receptions for 68 yards. Eli Blatt made a school-record nine extra-point kicks.

The Hawks made five interceptions and held Warrior Run to 152 yards of offense.
