Hamilton QB Nicco Marchiol named Frank Kush high school football POY by NFF

Chandler Hamilton senior quarterback Nicco Marchiol, who is signing Wednesday with West Virginia, received his second big honor of the post season.

Marchiol was named the Frank Kush high school football Player of the Year in Arizona for the 2021 season by the National Football Foundation Valley of the Sun Chapter Namesake Player Awards.

Marchiol threw a school-record 37 touchdown passes and guided the Huskies to an 11-1 record, reaching the Open Division state semifinals.

Here are the other award winners from the NFF Valley of the Sun (awards are named after former Arizona State Sun Devils, who became legendary):

Curley Culp Defensive Lineman of the Year -- Russell Davis II, Hamilton, Sr.

Randall McDaniel Offensive Lineman of the Year -- Gavin Broscious, Goodyear Desert Edge, Sr.

Ron Pritchard Linebacker of the Year -- Parker McClure, Mesa Red Mountain, Sr.

Danny White Quarterback of the Year -- Marchiol.

Mike Haynes Defensive Back of the Year: Jax Stam, Peoria Liberty, Sr.

Archie Amerson Running Back of the Year: Zach Hammett, Mohave Valley River Valley, Sr.

Luis Zendejas Place Kicker of the Year: Grady Gross, Scottsdale Horizon, Sr.

J.D. Hill Wide Receiver of the Year (tie): Christian Anaya, Hamilton, Sr.; Javen Jacobs, Scottsdale Saguaro, Sr.

Todd Heap Tight End of the Year: Nason Coleman, Chandler, Sr.

Earl Putman Coach of the Year: Andy Litten, Horizon.
