"Hi everyone, I hope you're all well. I know I've not been in touch this past week, but it's definitely been one of the hardest weeks that I've had for some time. And I've just been focusing on recovering and trying to get back in shape so I can get back in the car race the final race in Abu Dhabi. I woke up today feeling great and got my first workout in. So, I just wanted to send you guys a message of positivity, let you know that I'm OK and thank every single one of you for sending me the amazing messages and videos and it I really appreciate it. And I hope that wherever you are, you're staying positive and fighting through whatever it is that that you're facing and I hope that I can get back in the car soon and - yeah, I'm just sending you guys love."

STORY: Lewis Hamilton on Tuesday (December 8) told fans via social media that he is recovering following "one of the hardest weeks," after his COVID-19 diagnosis and that he is back to training with hopes of racing in Abu Dhabi.

The seven-times world champion tested positive for the new coronavirus last week and sat out Sunday's (December 6) Sakhir Grand Prix, but he said he was back to training as of Tuesday and hopes to race in Formula One's season-ending Middle Eastern triple header this weekend.

In a video posted to his Instagram and Twitter accounts, the Briton thanked fans for their support and encouraged them to stay positive and fight through whatever issues they may be facing.

The Mercedes driver wrapped up his seventh world title at last month's Turkish Grand Prix and is also in talks to renew his contract with Mercedes.
