Hamilton track sweeps Holland Christian at new facility

HOLLAND - The Hamilton boys and girls track and field teams swept rival Holland Christian on Thursday.

The meet was the first high school event at Holland Christian's new track complex.

The Hamilton girls won 85-31 over the Maroons. The Hamilton boys won 106-31.

In the boys meet, Hamilton's Ben Boehm won the 100 meters (11.12) and the 200 (23.23) as well as the shot put (43 feet, 1 inch). Parker Matheny won the 400 (53.43). Abatu Dykstra won the 800 (2:05.53). Max VanHuis won the 1,600 (4:44.83). Jeremy Mathews won the 110-meter hurdles (16.30), the long jump (20-5 1/2) and the pole vault (11-6). Paul Theodore won the 300 hurdles (42.94). Alex VanDyke won the discus (127-3).

Hamilton's Zeus Chico, Jeren Bronkhorst, Emilio Calderon and Nate Friday won the 4x100 (46.27). Matheny, Zach Stoel, Ty Ritsema and Bronkhorst won the 4x200 (1:36.39). Ritsema, Matheny, Josh Langeland and Stoel won the 4x400 (3:37.91) and Langland, Dykstra, VanHuis and Matheny won the 4x800 (8:22.06).

Holland Christian's Will Engbers won the 3,200 meters (10:38.55). Jayden Rees won the high jump (6-0).

In the girls meet, Hamilton's Stella Kotowski won the 100 (13.23) and the 200 (27.22). Elyse Genzink won the 400 (1:07.60). Trina Farris won the 1,600 (5:38.81). Cheri Dykstra won the 3,200 (14:26.69). Jeralyn Hoppes won the 100 hurdles (16.79) and the 300 hurdles (50.16) as well as the long jump (15-11 3/4). Aliyah Springer won the shot put (32-2) and the discus (111-3).

Genzink, Makenzie Schrotenboer, Hailey Brinks and Sophia Garvin won the 4x200 (1:59.52). Genzink, Ella Schwartz, Sienna Troke and Kotowski won the 4x400 (4:39.05).

Holland Christian's Alyssa Gerritsma won the 800 (2:45.54) and the pole vault (9-0). Avery Brower won the high jump (5-0).

Abbe Baas, Kyah Hicks, Tessa VanDyke and Chloe Chesser won the 4x100 (52.69). Grace Genton, Alina Martinson, Alyson Vikstrom and Gerritsma won the 4x800 (14:10.31).
