Hamlin, Milbank, Sisseton, Warner & Leola-Frederick girls reach SoDak 16

Five area Class A and B girls basketball teams secured berths in SoDak state-qualifying games and four Class A and B teams posted play-in wins in region boys basketball tournaments on Monday.

State-qualifying girls basketball games for Class A and B are scheduled for Thursday.

Girls Basketball

Region 1A: Top-seeded Sisseton (19-2) defeated No. 4 Aberdeen Roncalli (11-10) 67-56 and second-seeded Milbank (14-7) outlasted third-seeded Groton Area (13-9) 40-37 in overtime in semifinal games on Monday.

Maurina Street notched 12 points and Isabella Anderson and Tyra Berry 10 each for Milbank. Street also grabbed nine rebounds.

Jaedyn Penning's 10 points, Sydney Leicht's nine points and Brooke Gengerke's six points and six rebounds led Groton Area.

Krista Langager produced 21 points, Hannah Leverson 17 and Tara Nelson and Chloe Langager seven each for Sisseton.

Roncalli received 17 points from Claire Crawford, 13 from Camryn Bain, 12 from Ava Hanson and eight from McKenna O'Keefe.

Region 2A: Top-seeded Hamlin (21-0) downed No. 4 Sioux Valley (14-8) 58-32 and third-seeded Flandreau (18-4) beat No. 2 Florence-Henry (17-3) 34-25 in semifinal games on Monday.

Hamlin advanced with 21 points from Kami Wadsworth, 17 from Addie Neuendorf, 12 from Marissa Bawdon and six from Brooklyn Brandriet. Ashley Bjerke tallied 18 and Landree Wilson 10 for Sioux Valley.

Sadie Iott scored 15 points, Claire Sheppard nine and Lizzy Pavlis six for Flandreau. Caylin Kelly finished with nine points and six rebounds, Trinity Watson six and six and Haley Hlavacek six and four for Florence-Henry.

Region 1B: In semifinal games at Webster on Monday, top-seeded Warner (16-6) rolled past No. 4 Hitchcock-Tulare (8-14) 76-44 and second-seeded Leola-Frederick Area (16-6) scored a 46-33 win over No. 3 Northwestern (13-8).

Sofia Losure scored 10 points, Jocelynn Ellwein nine, Laura Sumption eight and Kalyce Achen seven for LFA. Chloe Arneson collected 11 rebounds and Losure nine.

Ella Haven and Ella Boekleheide each had eight points for Northwestern. Boekelheide joined Ashley Haven and Adrianna Ratigan with eight boards apiece.

Kyra Marcuson poured in 30 points for Warner. Ava Nilsson and Kamryn Anderson each contributed 13 and Lauren Marcuson 10.

Katelyn Schroeder notched 21 points, Gracyn Bixler nine and Cambree Hoekman eight for Hitchcock-Tulare.

Sioux Falls Roosevelt 53, Aberdeen Central 46: Roosevelt (1-19) broke into the win column with the victory. Aberdeen Central fell to 7-11 and visits Sioux Falls Jefferson in a SoDak 16 state-qualifying game on Friday.

Katie Spicer scored 20 points and Madison Smalley 17 for Roosevelt. Taryn Hermansen finished with 17 points, Lauryn Burckhard eight points and nine rebounds, Taryn Hettich seven points and six assists and Grace Kuch and Anna Malchow six points apiece for Aberdeen Central.

Boys Basketball

Region 2A: Eight-seeded Flandreau (9-12) used 19 points from Paul Parsley and 15 from Luke Sheppard to defeat No. 9 Elkton-Lake Benton (6-15) in a play-in game on Monday. Tanner Drietz scored 19 points and Carson Griffith 11 for the Elks.

Region 1B: Eighth-seeded Britton-Hecla (3-17) advanced with a 44-19 win over No. 9 Wilmot (1-19) in a play-in game on Monday.

BoDell Davidson scored 12 points, Dawson Treeby nine, Jaxon Zuehlke seven and Landon Carlson six for the Braves. Dennis Creadon finished with eight points and Keitrick Genia six for Wilmot.

Region 2B: Caden Hojer's 25 points, 12 rebounds and four steals led ninth-seeded Oldham-Ramona-Rutland (2-19) to a 54-33 win over No. 8 Arlington (2-19) in a play-in game on Monday.

Riley Schneider contributed six points, eight rebounds and five steals; Shane DeVaney five points and seven rebounds; and Kadyn Gehrels seven points for ORR.

The Cardinals received 12 points and eight rebounds from Blake Madsen, nine points and five rebounds from Riley Miller, seven rebounds apiece from Evan Fonseca and Paxton Rheault and four steals and five rebounds from Tommy Bacon.

Region 6B: Eighth-seeded Potter County (4-17) won a play-in game over No. 9 Sunshine Bible Academy (2-16) 60-32. Ryder Falkenhagen led the way with 20 points, followed by Alex Tanner with 19 and Landon Larson 12. Chance Smith grabbed eight rebounds. Tanner added six rebounds and four steals, Falkenhagen seven steals and Skyler Van Well four assists.

Nolan Triebwasser's 13 points and nine rebounds paced SBA. Daniel Gerbracht added nine and six.

Sioux Falls Roosevelt 61, Aberdeen Central 57: Roosevelt closed out a 12-8 season with the non-conference win. Aberdeen Central finished 6-12 and will visit Yankton in a SoDak 16 state-qualifying game on Saturday.

Roosevelt leaders included Hayden Goff with 18 points and seven rebounds, Naser Ismail 11 points and Jack Radel and Jackson Brouwer nine points each. Jeff Carlson and Spencer Barr each scored 14 points for Aberdeen Central, which also got nine points and six rebounds each from Parker Lemer, eight points from Carter Dingman and eight rebounds from Camden Fauth. Barr also snared six rebounds.

North Dakota District 5: Ellendale fell to Lamoure-Litchville-Marion 59-51 in a semifinal game and Oakes lost to Griggs-Midkota 57-47 in a consolation game. No other details were reported.
