New Hampshire power outage map: See where power is out as Hurricane Lee nears

Hurricane Lee was barreling northward off the coast of New Hampshire on Friday, putting millions of residents in the region under tropical storm warnings as the Category 1 hurricane approaches the coast.

The hurricane is traveling north on a path that could make landfall in Nova Scotia Saturday evening, according to forecasters, and could lead to heavy rain, strong winds and pounding surf in eastern New England and Atlantic Canada.

Lee is currently forecast to make landfall as a tropical storm, with winds slightly lower than 74 mph, the minimum wind speed needed to qualify as a hurricane.

Strong winds and high waves are expected to be the main effects of the storm in the New Hampshire Seacoast and southern York County, Maine, according to Michael Clair, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Clair said the peak of the impact locally is forecast to be Saturday, from late morning to late afternoon, with scattered power outages expected.
