Hampton Police: 16-year-old charged in homicide, maiming and assault cases
HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with separate incidents in early February and a homicide in January.
On Feb. 6, police were notified of a shooting incident around 11:30 p.m. in the 1st block of South Armistead Avenue. Police arrived to the scene to find a 33-year-old woman inside of a car suffering from non life-threatening gunshot injuries.
Police also said that on the same night, the suspect was involved in an assault. WAVY 10 is reaching out to learn more about this incident.
The juvenile suspect wanted in connection with both of these incidents was taken into custody on Feb. 16 without incident, and was charged with the following:
One count of aggravated malicious wounding
One count of attempted malicious wounding
Two counts of use of a firearm in a commission of a felony
One count of reckless handling
One count of under age possession of a firearm
One count of discharge of a firearm on a roadway
One count of shooting into an occupied vehicle
One count of shooting from a vehicle
One count of shooting in commission on a felony
Two counts of brandishing a firearm
One count of strangulation
One count of assault and battery
One count of underage possession of a firearm
According to officials, Hampton police responded to a call for multiple shots fired in the 700 block of Fairland Avenue on Jan. 8. Officers arrived on scene to find 25-year-old Manuel Osorio inside of a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Osorio was transferred to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect was also charged in connection with this incident and additionally charged with one count of 1st degree murder, two counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, one count of robbery and one count of possession of a firearm by a juvenile.
