Do not sleep on the new release of the popular “Hank the Cowdog” book series being featured at Abilene’s Texas Star Trading Company with author John Erickson.

The book signing with Erickson will be noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28.

Erickson’s 80th addition to his series titled “The Secret Sleeping Powder Files” was published this month. Readers will go on another adventure with Hank and his crew to uncover the mystery of Hank falling asleep on the job as Head of Ranch Security and return his archnemesis Pete the Barncat—who has been missing for two days—back to the ranch.

The series started as a self-publishing venture in Erickson’s garage in 1982, and has revolutionized children’s literature in the years since. Readers live the ranch life with Hank and his friends as they go on entertaining adventures in the Texas plains.

“I can’t count how many times I’ve heard people say that they became avid readers because of the Hank books,” said Texas Star co-owner Glenn Dromgoole. “Whole families – sometimes two or three generations – show up at his book signings to have their pictures taken with him.”

The Texas Star Trading Company is located at 174 Cypress St., Suite 101.
