Hanna City motorcyclist dies after collision with deer

A Hanna City motorcyclist died Monday after a weekend collision with a deer.

Todd Sweet, 51, was pronounced dead at 11:23 p.m. at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center, the Peoria County Coroner's Office announced in a Tuesday Facebook post.

At about 5:30 a.m. Saturday, the Peoria County Sheriff's Department and EMS were called to West Lancaster Road in Mapleton on a report of a motorcycle and deer collision. Sweet was hospitalized in serious condition.

His cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma injuries due to the collision, the post said. Per Illinois state statute, toxicology tests were pending.
