Hannah Waddingham on why she pulled out of hosting BBC Proms

Hannah Waddingham has announced she pulled out of hosting a recent BBC Proms concert to show her solidarity with the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
The Ted Lasso star was due to take on hosting duties at London's Royal Albert Hall for an event titled the 'Fantasy, Myths and Legends Prom' on Monday evening (August 28). Ahead of the event, Waddingham's statement was posted on social media explaining why she would no longer be taking part.
"Hey guys, I very sadly won't be able to host tonight's @bbcproms 'Fantasy, Myths and Legends'," Waddingham wrote.

She continued: "It will be a magical night, but due to my ongoing support for the @sagaftra strike I must respectfully step down. I look forward to being back at @RoyalAlbertHall PDQ! Xx H."
Her decision was met with an outpouring of support from fans on social media standing by the Game of Thrones star.
SAG-AFTRA, a US trade union that represents around 160,000 actors and performers, is currently striking to negotiate both fairer pay and better safeguards around the use of AI with studios.

The industrial action, which is taking place at the same time as a strike by the Writers Guild of America (WGA), has seen actors taking to picket lines, and has had an effect on filming and release schedules.
The last time both guilds went on strike at the same time was in 1960.
The fantasy-inspired BBC Proms event saw the BBC Concert Orchestra and their chief conductor Anna-Maria Helsing performing music from film, tv shows and video games, including Game of Thrones, where Waddingham played Septa Unella.
It was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, and is available to stream on demand on BBC Sounds.
An edited version of the show will air on BBC Two on Saturday, September 7 from 5.50pm.
