Hanover Rite Aid to close as pharmacy files for bankruptcy

A York County Rite Aid is among those set to close as part of Rite Aid's Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, according to court documents filed by the company.

Rite Aid #12999, at 301 Eisenhower Drive in Hanover was named on a list of the initial 154 stores to close in a document that the pharmacy filed on Tuesday.

In total, 39 stores in Pennsylvania are planned to close, according to the document.

In statement on Sunday, Rite Aid said it will be working to communicate with customers of closing stores to transfer their prescriptions without a disruption in service. The company will "transfer associates at impacted stores to other Rite Aid locations where possible," it said.

Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy on Sunday while facing slumping sales and several opiate lawsuits.
