Hanukkah 2023: Here’s where to celebrate in South Florida

Happy Hanukkah! The Jewish holiday begins Dec. 7 and lasts eight days. You can celebrate at home or join one of the many public celebrations planned in Broward and Palm Beach counties. Check out these events and decide whether you’re in the mood for a community menorah lighting, car parade, live music or latke- and jelly donut-eating festival. All events are free unless otherwise noted.

PALM BEACH COUNTY

DELRAY BEACH

Grand Delray Beach Chanukah Festival & Menorah Lighting (with live music, games, holiday snacks, crafts)

Menorah Parade for Israel

  • WHEN: 4:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11

  • WHERE: Start at The Big Apple Shopping Bazaar, 5283 W. Atlantic Ave., then meet 5:30 p.m. at Delray Marketplace, 14851 Lyons Road, for a festival with menorah lighting, DJ, latkes, hot dogs and crafts.

Boca Raton Chanukah Festival, Menorah Lighting and Israel Rally

  • WHEN: 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10

Grand Menorah Lighting celebration (hosted by PJ Library, with crafts, latkes, donuts and activities for all ages)

  • WHERE: Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County in Zinman Hall, 9901 Donna Klein Blvd.

Lighting of Menorah (to be filled with money that will be sent to Israeli charities)

  • WHEN: 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7

Menorah Lighting Celebration

Car Menorah Parade for Israel

  • WHEN: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7

  • WHERE: Leaves from Las Olas Chabad Jewish Center, 1302 E. Las Olas Blvd.

Hanukkah Celebration at the Galleria Mall (by Swarovski store)

Grand Chanukah Festival (with latkes, music, rides and bounce houses)

  • WHEN: 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12

  • WHERE: Meet at Oakhill Equestrian Park, 3100 SW 130th Ave., to get menorah attached to your car. Parade is expected to last 45 minutes and end at Bamford Sports Complex, 3801 S. Pine Island Road, for the 5:30 p.m. menorah lighting and celebration.
