Right before Hanukkah, Kosher chocolate recalled for product mislabeling.

Hanukkah is right around the corner and a Kosher candy has been taken off the shelves. According to the Food and Drug Administration, the New Jersey food company Manischewitz has recalled their limited units of dark chocolate coins for product mislabeling.

The dark chocolate coins are being withdrawn from stores for undeclared milk. The report by the FDA says that people with allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume these products.

The Manischewitz Dark Chocolate Coins were sent out to stores nationwide, but predominantly in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut regions. The company, based out of Bayonne, says they have received no reports of illness or injury to date.

The recall occurred because a mix-up was made with the labels of the chocolates. The company's quality control department noticed that some bags labeled as dark chocolate coins contained milk chocolate that was not identified in the packaging. The dairy milk chocolate coins have a gold foil with a blue netting while non-dairy dark chocolate coins have a silver foil with a red netting.

Only products with the lot code "2283" may potentially have dairy coins in a dark chocolate packaging.

Manischewitz is also known for making other foods such as cookies, matzo and macaroons. The company has been making traditional Jewish recipes since the late 1800s.
