Camp Harmony's Celebration Dinner

An all you can eat pasta bar is 5-7 p.m. Dec. 12, at Camp Harmony, 1414 Plank Road, Hooversville. Holiday concert

Folk arts "creatively Inspired" holiday concert featuring Sam Coco and The Evergreens is 6-10 p.m. Dec. 17, at Bottle Works along 3rd Avenue, 411 and 413 3rd Ave., Johnstown. Bring art supplies to paint, sculpt, craft, paper cut or quilt while enjoying the holiday tunes. Or watch and enjoy what the artists and attendees create.

Drive-thru live nativity

A drive-thru live nativity by the Lavansville-Bakersville and New Centerville Lutheran parishes, is 2-4 p.m. Dec. 18, at Chippewa Farms, 1109 Indiantown Road, Somerset.

2021 Festival of Lights

Ligonier Valley Historical Society Festival of Lights: The Art of Christmas . . . Trees, Wreaths and Other Treasures, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 4-7. This display of decorated trees and creations transforms the Ligonier Town Hall Community Room into a vision of that famous story, “A Christmas Carol.” Enjoy a holiday beverage and a tasty bite.

The Toast to the Trees Gala and Auction begins at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3, to kick off the Festival with a yule-tide evening of glittering light and wintertime wonder. During the gala, participants will be able to bid on and possibly win a piece of the holiday creations displayed during the Festival of Lights. This evening will feature gourmet hors d'oeuvres and a special holiday libation served by the guest bartender, Elliot Chimelewski.

Somerset Area Ministerium Community Advent Services begin Dec. 1

The Somerset Area Ministerium will begin Advent Services starting Dec. 1 and finishing on Dec. 22.

Special music will begin at 11:30 a.m. Various individuals will share their musical talents during this time. Worship service will begin at noon, and each week a local pastor will present the message. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church along West Patriot Street. In consideration of the pandemic, meal will not be provided.

Christmas Yule Log Sale

Yule logs will be baked by the Episcopal Church Women of St. Francis in-the-Fields. The Yule log or Buche de Noel is a filled sponge cake dessert roll. Its origins date back to the 1600s in France. Buche de Noel is made to resemble the Yule logs traditionally burned in fireplaces to usher in the return of light following the winter solstice.

The logs will be sold in a kit which consists of a homemade chocolate cake roll with cream cheese filling, a container of chocolate frosting, edible holly decorations and candles. The cake rolls can also be purchased individually. Yule logs and Swiss cake rolls will be fresh but freeze very well.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit the organization’s charities which include projects for veterans, Rwandan orphans and nursing home residents.

Friendsgiving dance

Dance is at 8 p.m. Dec. 4, at the Salisbury VFW Post 8826. Music by Country Express. Goodwill donation at the door. There will be a 50/50, basket raffle and door prize. All proceeds benefit the Meyersdale, Salisbury, Berlin Relay For Life. Come dressed in your favorite holiday attire.

Grand Halle and SongWorks concert

The Grand Halle and SongWorks will bring back their collaborative holiday favorite “A SongWorks Christmas” Dec. 8. The concert will feature an optional pre-show dinner, followed by several local songwriters and musicians performing original compositions and arrangements.

The holiday dinner will be catered by Anthony’s and will start at 6 p.m. The dinner will include chicken filets, parsley potatoes, green beans, a tossed salad and gob cake. Alcohol will be BYOB for the event. Anyone interested in the optional pre-show dinner must purchase a ticket in advance.

The concert portion of the evening will start at 7 p.m. Tickets for the concert may be purchased in advance or at the door. Tickets are now available at GrandHalle.com or by calling 814-254-4033 during regular business hours.

W.A.C.K. meal

A free community dinner, served at the Windber Area Community Kitchen (W.A.C.K.), will be held from 4-6 p.m. Dec. 4, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 1800 Stockholm Ave., Windber. The menu will be turkey dinner with all the trimmings, bread, fruit and dessert. The meal will be sponsored and served by Cambria/Somerset HR Association.

Sprinkles and Sparkles Sale

A Sprinkles and Sparkles Sale is from 12-5 p.m. Dec. 5, at the Women's Help Center, 809 Napoleon St., Johnstown, rear entrance. Items include Lularoe, Dress Blowout, Paparazzi jewelry, Berne women's coats and Avon. Cookies, coffee and cocoa too. All proceeds benefit The Women's Help Center.
