Student Orchestras of Greater Olympia (SOGO) May Concert: Another season draws to a close for Student Orchestras of Greater Olympia. Student violin soloist Maria Aurelio will perform a work by Antonín Dvorák, and SOGO will honor its Class of 2023 graduating seniors. The Conservatory Orchestra will also play Mexican composer Arturo Márquez’ Danzón No. 2. The concert is at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, 512 Washington St. SE, Olympia. Tickets are $21 to $11.

Oly Town USL Men’s Match: The Oly Town Men’s team will take on Ballard FC at 3 p.m. at South Sound Stadium, 4201 Sixth Ave. NE, Lacey. Single tickets are $12, and those 12 and younger get in free. Tickets are available at www.olytownfc.com

Public hearing on Code Clarifications & Corrections Amendment: The Thurston Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, to receive public testimony on the Code Clarifications & Corrections Amendment. The amendment is made up of three development code amendments: Development Code Docket A-13, “Miscellaneous Clerical Errors”; A-28, “Clarification on Expansion of Non-Conforming Non-Residential Uses and Structures”; and A-29, “Update Sign Board Posting Procedures.” The proposed amendments include changes to standards for Academic Schools in the Special Use chapter, changes to standards for on-site noticing requirements on Type III applications, and corrections to various clerical errors within various chapters of the Thurston County Code (TCC). In Person Medicare Presentation in North Mason County: Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) volunteers will provide an introduction to options for new Medicare beneficiaries starting at noon Wednesday, May 24, at the North Mason Timberland Library, 23081 Highway 3, Belfair. The presentation will cover Parts A and B; Medicare Advantage Plans; Part D Prescription Plans; Medicare supplements; and programs available to limited income beneficiaries. Neo-folk songs from a healer-singer: Mariee Siou, who grew up in the Sierra Nevada foothills the daughter of a bluegrass musician, will perform her music at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, at New Traditions Cafe, 300 Fifth Ave. SW, Olympia. Tickets are $26 for general admission and $20 for those with low income.

David Joyner and the Jared Hall Quartet: Part of the Black Box Jazz series, pianist/composer/vocalist Joyner, trumpet player Hall and the rest of the quartet will perform starting at 8 p.m. Friday, May 26, in the Black Box at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, 512 Washington St. SE, Olympia. Tickets are $39 for reserved seating and $32 for general admission.

SPSCC Theatre Collective presents “Sunday in the Park with George”: The SPSCC Theatre Collective presents Stephen Sondheim’s “Sunday in the Park with George” Friday, May 26, through Sunday, June 4, at the Minnaert Center for the Arts main stage at the Olympia campus, 2011 Mottman Road SW. The musical pays homage to art and artists as it explores the challenges and sacrifices artists make to innovate and survive. It imagines episodes in the brief life of George Seurat, finishing his now-famous pointillist painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte from 1884 to 1886. In the second act, which takes place 100 years later, Seurat’s great-grandson is introduced, an artist who creates electronic sculptures and is struggling to reignite his creative spark. No tickets are required for the show. Admission is a suggested $15 donation at the door and free to SPSCC students, staff, and faculty. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, May 26-27 and June 2-3, and 2 p.m. Sundays, May 28 and June 4.

YMCA Kids Night Out: Both the Briggs Community YMCA and the Shelton Family YMCA will host Kids Night Out events on Friday, May, with the Briggs’ hours from 5 to 8 p.m. and Shelton’s hours from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Kids can enjoy games, crafts, and more. Greta Matassa at New Traditions: Award-winning, Hall of Fame jazz vocalist Greta Matassa has a new group that consists of guitarist Brian Monroney, bassist Clipper Anderson, Mark Ivester on drums, and Alexey Nikolaev on sax, and they feature new material and arrangements with a contemporary jazz bent. But Matassa also will do tunes from her 11 recordings and many of the classic jazz standards when she performs at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 27, at New Traditions Cafe, 300 Fifth Ave. SW, Olympia. BeeGees Gold at the Washington Center: John Acosta, as lead singer Barry Gibb, has performed in Bee Gees tribute groups all over the world because of his “zest for detail” in both look and sound. He’ll join singers Eric Sean and Pete Sprague to recreate the the Bee Gees from the 1960s to the late ‘70s when they perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 27, at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, 512 Washington St. SE, Olympia. Laughs & Lagers at Headless Mumby: The local brewing company taproom will host a night of comedy from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 27, featuring Kate Carlson, Rachel Aflleje, and Richie Aflleje.
