Happy birthday to The Boss: Springsteen turns 70

Rock and roll superstar Bruce Springsteen turns 70 on Monday (September 23).

Affectionately known as "The Boss", Springsteen has scored hits for nearly five decades since the release of his debut album, 1972's "Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.".

Throughout his career, the New Jersey-born singer-songwriter has repeatedly returned to the experience of American blue-collar lives for the themes of his music.

On October 25, his new concert movie "Western Stars" is set to be released in the United States. In it Springsteen performs songs from his latest album of the same title and the film also features clips from his earlier years, and wide, sweeping shots of the landscape of the American West which served as inspiration.
