Harambee starts this Saturday at MLK Jr. Center in Lenoir

Jul. 31—LENOIR — The 49th Harambee Arts Festival will be Saturday, Aug. 5, through Friday, Aug. 11, at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center.

The festival, which will have different activities each day, is free and open to the public.

Harambee kicks off at 11 a.m. Saturday with a Family Fun Day. There will be games, face painting, trampoline, rock climbing, horse rides, food, vendors, and a book bag giveaway. The Family Fun Day ends at 4 p.m.

On Sunday, Aug. 6, there will be a Gospel Singing starting at 4 p.m. The NuFaithfulAires, The Dixon Sisters, 4ever Faithful, and LaDawnna Bradshaw will perform during the free concert.

The J.H. Jones All-Star Basketball Games will be Monday, Aug. 7, and the Senior Citizens Banquet will be Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 6 p.m. Game Night will be Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 6 p.m. The games will include spades, bid whist, and bingo. There will be a Recognition Banquet Thursday night.
