Morning Tea and Talk

The society’s tea party kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the History Museum with a presentation by curator Beth Wemigwase on the historical origins of Valentine’s Day and Victorian-era Valentine’s Day cards. Attendees will be served hot tea, traditional pastries and desserts.

Tickets are $20 per person and seats are limited. While this hour-long event is appropriate for all ages, guests aged 10 and above will find it the most enjoyable. To reserve a seat or register a group, call (231) 526-9771 or visit HarborSpringsHistory.org.

Crafts Open House

Following the morning tea, the History Museum will open its doors to the public from 12-4 p.m. Guests will be able to tour the museum, create Victorian-inspired Valentine’s Day cards and other crafts, browse Ancestry.com and get their pictures taken outside with the society’s ice sculpture.

The open house is free, with donations appreciated.

Blackbird Museum

The historical society will also be hosting public touring of the City of Harbor Springs’ Andrew J. Blackbird Museum during Ice Fest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 9-10.

The Blackbird Museum is located on Main Street across from the History Museum.

All proceeds from these events benefit the nonprofit Harbor Springs Area Historical Society’s community campaign to develop and preserve a historical corridor at the eastern approach to Main Street, including creation of a Shay House Innovation Museum and new exhibit installations in the History Museum.
