HARBOR SPRINGS — A year ago, almost everyone around the state of Michigan got to know Olivia Flynn as a freshman on the Harbor Springs girls’ basketball team.

As an encore this season, Flynn made the ones left in the dark aware of her game as a sophomore and proof of that came out on Tuesday night from the Associated Press.

For a second straight season, Flynn was named a Division 3 AP All-State first team selection, which was released by a panel of statewide writers.

Flynn was the lone Northern Michigan athlete on the first team, while one other was named to the second team.

Flynn finished out her second season of varsity ball leading the Rams to an 18-5 overall record, the second straight year that the Rams have finished with 18 wins.

She averaged 25 points a night, to go along with seven rebounds, six assists and five steals a game, while running the point for Harbor Springs.

Flynn also recorded five triple-doubles for the season and eclipsed the 1,000-point career mark in just two seasons, putting her on pace to potentially become the all-time leading scorer at the school with two years left to play.

Also out of Northern Michigan, Elk Rapids junior Kendall Standfest was named Division 3 second team all-state after averaging just over 17 points a night for the Elks.

Elk Rapids finished out a 21-4 season behind Standfest, earning both district and regional titles.

Lake City junior MacKenzie Bisballe earned first team all-state recognition this season, with the Trojans finishing out a 24-2 season with wins over both Petoskey and Gaylord.

A Grand Valley State commit, Bisballe averaged over 18 points and eight rebounds a game.

The Division 3 Player of the Year from the AP went to Buchanan’s Faith Carson.

Carson averaged 20.5 points and 12.5 rebounds, along with 5.8 blocks a game. She’s committed to Ohio State for the next level.
