Hard Paint vs. Soft Paint
In the detailing world, the terms "hard paint" and "soft paint" are thrown around a lot. But what do they actually mean, and how does it affect caring for your car? Larry Kosilla of AMMO NYC is here to explain.
Kosilla explains that the terms "hard" and "soft" should be looked at not as two sides of a coin, but rather on a spectrum. If a paint can be easily adjusted with polishing and repair, it's considered soft. As it becomes more difficult to adjust and repair, it becomes categorized as harder and harder. Kosilla mentions that no car is exactly the same-cars of the same make and model could have different paint structures for any given reason, so it's up to the detailer to experiment on each individual car and find out for themselves what level of paint they're dealing with.
