Hardworking Field Worker Keeps Us Fed: Watsonville Hero

Courtney Teague

WATSONVILLE, CA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. And Santa Cruz County is full of them.

We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

This submission comes from Jose Vazquez, who nominated his mom, Olga Tapia of Watsonville:

Is the nominee considered an “essential worker”?:

What does the nominee do for work?:
Working in the fields

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
I believe she should be honored because she is a hardworking woman and providing people with to eat during this world wide emergency.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
She is a nice hardworking mother that works for her kids here and in Mexico and wants the best for them.

Thank you for all you do, Olga!
